Getting into the 5's is not as easy as it sounds

Installed new fibers today then hit the strip. After a few runs did managed to get and all time best 60ft at 1.33. Also had a 6.03 and 6.06 et. I thought that 1.33 would be better but the bike drifter to the right and she started bucking right before the traps. Man they need to put down some more vht or I need a bigger slick.

As for the 5's that will have to wait until later. It sounds easy but it ain't, I'll keep knocking on that door until it's busted. Off to a good start anyways, may play around with the cam timing and see if that helps.

My winter diet went well, I gain 5 more pounds :-({|=

Your short times seem pretty good . . . you'll make it next outing.
Could you list your motor mods and post pic if possible
      Is she push button start?

          It's 1395 cc's, 10-1 pistons, G4 cams, 1150 head with 29.5 intakes, 40mm lectrons, gearing 14f 46r, mc2 with 2 step, launch at 6K shift at 9.8K, Stock GS1100 frame with a 92 gsxr swingarm for a M/T 7.00x17 slick with wheelie bars too.

I know it has more in it but just need to find it. Won't win any beauty contest but is sure fun to ride. And you better hold on tight cause she leave you behind. And she is push button start too.

Jake, How many gears are you using? What gear thru the traps? I think your 5 is in your 60 foot times. Work on a more aggressive launch. Are you plugging gears pretty quick?

If I can get down to 1.30 that should do it. I go through the traps in fourth gear and the shift lite comes on right past the finish line. I got a 48T rear sprocket that I'm thinking of trying again. That should help the 60's.

I would try the 48 tooth rear. Maybe raise your shift point between 500 and 1k rpm's so you stay on the pipe. I would think your bike should 60 in the 1.20's. Can you shorten kill times on your shifter set up? Keep the shift light off before the traps as you play with the gearing. Stuff you know already. I know what it feels like to chase fractions of a second. How much air do you run in your front tire? Keep it hard..Do you have the slick right on regarding air pressure.

The front is at 41lbs and the rear is at 7psi.

I don't use a kill box cause my bike doesn't like it so I just use my thumb. A few times when I went with a higher shift point my thumb still shifts at the lower one even if the lite not on, just the sound of the motor at that rpm will do it. Like teaching and old dog new tricks.

Half the fun is test and tune.

I can push if you think it would help.

That would work too, but I'm still trying to convince them to let me stage with my rear slick.

I would say for the MPH your running, a 6.0 is very respectable. And by looking at your bike, it looks fairly heavy. A 1.30 sixty footer is just about on the mark. My old 2V GS1000 is very light and I weigh 125 lbs...My sixty footers were always between 1.23 and 1.31 depending on the launch. Thats also with an old 8.5" tire, which they dont make anymore. You must ride the hell out of that thing...Your not going to be happy running an occasional 5.90 (at least I wouldn't), so you ought to step up and find a couple a 10th's without upsetting your game plan. A professional port job alone, with your existing valves, with that head, will probably net you just enough to eliminate those 6 second slips. And, you can still ride your bike around the pits.....Billy
