    How's this sound?

    Hey guys

I have a 1980 gs550e. Currently i have a stock rim running a 110 tire. I would like to move to a wider tire, as well as a lighter "cooler" gsxr wheel.

I have found that the 1989 gsxr1100's have a rear wheel that will bolt up pretty well to my bike. It is 4.5 wide and 17" diameter. This year/model only comes with a 6 puck system, with 6 screws holding the sprocket on. This would enable me to use my exsisting 530 sprocket/hub. They also used a 20mm axle and a 530 chain, like the GS's. I would hope to run a 130-160 tire on it, just depending on what size fits in the swingarm best. The key is using as many OEM parts as possible, and not having to swap too many items. The only thing that worries me is the brakes. I would need a new rotor, but a larger one. Or should i just try to get the gsxr caliper and mount?

Before i start searching ebay and buying, do you see any problems with this?

Also, i am under the assumption that i can't really run any larger of a rear wheel than a 4.5". Is this true?

    Thanks!

You may not even get a 4.5" in there. Take some measurements and see how much width you have between the arm at the front of the tire.
