    Okay, so what kind of rubber are you guys running to let you get power wheelies in second and third? My rear tire breaks loose well before any thought of the front coming up even occurs.

        Thats why I`m getting that wimpy 130 off the back...from experience with hayabusa`s a michelin pilot in a 200 ant bad...even with a 1397. Its great you can go back on a faded asphalt highway and look and you will see a fant blackmark through third gear and thats cooking on one of those. Standing up is the issue with a busa. If it wasn`t for that terrible seating position I`d still have one. Wish suzuki would come out with a busa motored bandit.

          I was running a GS1150 rear 3.5in. rim with a 140/70 Dunlop 591R race compound rear tire-best rear I ever used as far as grip is concerned. Only problem was they lasted about 1500 miles under heavy use without doing burnouts. My last 591 is played out now, bike has not been ridden much in the last 2 years, but I understand the Dunlop 501 has taken its place. Metezler CompK ME33 also best front I ever used-dry or wet a superb tire worth ever penny. Ride On, Ed.

              I do not mean to be at all offensive in any way, but this makes ME wonder what tires you guys use. I have been in the "Tire Industry" for about 10 years now and I only buy the best money can buy within reson when it comes to tires. Think about it: Take two fingers and measure the area they make. Thats about the size of your tire to the ground. And you run a 100hp+ bike.... Doesn?t take much to get that fatal slip. I think all of you should do the same. Why? You?re all to nice to disappear due to saving a few bucks. Thats my opinion. And, yes, sometimes the talk about power and torque and such can get a little too much, even from my mouth

                Yes HP rules in the US...always has...always will. I understand why someone from outside the US does not understand the culture here. I would make the point that would the hayabusa even been built if not for the US market....heck no. HP sales motorcycles in the US. Even sport touring bikes like the new FJR1300...whats it got 145? Although it was brought out in europe first the plan was always to bring it to the US and Canada.

                    No offence taken I just love to hear that it?s the same everywhere. Get a big cc bike and enjoy the ride. After a while the question usually pops up: What can I do to improve the bike? In my case, it has lead me to about 140hp at the wheel......
                    My remark was to Doze:s remark on tire choice. What am I trying to say? I think better safe than sorry is what I mean. Most of us here has very strong engines. Put it to comparison with a car. A car with the same power/weight ratio would be, to say the least, awsome -round 800-1000hp 8O Then the vehicle could benefit from the best choice of tire

                      I run a soft compound metzler me55a 140 and with my hp the only time the tire spins is if I am in the 8000 range at the top of first gear on bad pavement ( or if I spray 2nd ) at the drags it sticks pretty good. wheelies are not an issue because of the cams and headporting moved the power up the rpm range where you are not as apt to wheelie. but as far as the tire goes I have dusted many ,many, big tire bikes, its all in the launch and compound of the tire

                        Yeah I tried the same thing, upon reentry I landed inside my self and now I weigh twice as much and my bike uses twice as much gas.

                          Right now I'm running a Michelin Macadam 50 on the rear and a Metzler ME33 Laser on the front. As far as I know they're both very good quality tires. I don't believe in skimping on my rubber either. Unless A person goes to radials with a bigger footprint I don't see how you can get the grip to over come that 1150 torque. BTW no offense taken at your question, I wonder sometimes too at peoples choices when I see what they're riding on.

                            Doze: I too run the Metz 33 in the front and I am very happy with it, mostly because the long life it has had. I have run the bike with it for the past 6000miles -record in my case. Before I put on the widened rim I used stock rear with AVON 130-90-17 AM18 I think. Very good grip because of a little softer rubber compound. And yes, if the power talk is the issue, it managed to wheelie.....Yet the lifetime was quite Ok. The Macadam you use is a VERY good allround tire with good touring standards and everyday usage. It is a little harder in rubbercompound to last long. I dont know about your dimension on it, but my radial nowadays is called PILOT ROAD wich has got me hooked. A 160-60-17 thus far with 3000miles on it and hardly showing any wear Excellent grip and wet performance. I recommend it with all my heart. If you have considered another wheel I can really recommend you to go for it. The common handling was very different, much more smooth and reliable feeling of the bike. To complete the impression you should lower the forks a little because the 160 is lower., and go up one teeth on your front sprocket to have the same ratio.
