    Hi Cyg;

    I have an 82 GS850G (or GS850GZ -- depending on which manual I am looking at) and want to put a performance exhaust on it.

    I looked at www.mashonline.com and the Vance&Hines street megaphone for $279. Looks like a deal.

    Can you give me an update on how your exahust if performing and whether you had to rejet the carbs, or do anything else.

    TIA.

    Charles...

      With those mods you will definitely need to re-jet the carbs. Save yourself hours of tuning and order a Dynojet kit, stage 3. A few minor tweaks and my 1000 runs like a banshee. Sounds real good, too!

        i am still waiting on the vance and hines, they assured me that would be fresh brand new and not a shelf model. Comes with the baffle too. I picked up a set of jets 16 in all for 32 bucks off of ebay. 90 too 145. What jet did you use by chance?

          pipe options for saving weight and money

          My bike has Kerkers (pretty loud) I sold the Mac, didn't like it, but would like a new Vance and Hines. Also, you can certainly get used headers, have a mid pipe made and use whatever slip on you want.

          (I have new D&D that would work, if you want, still wrapped in plastic for $180. New is about $250, I think. This one has never been out of the wrapper.)

          You can buy used headers very cheap (without the slip on) and have them and the mid pipe, Jet-Hot coated, then use the D&D, or other slip on. Looks like a custom set up. You save alot of money compared with a new full system. Have you priced a new GXR system lately.....
          I have used Jet-Hot on bike headers before and they are COOL!
