    Carburetor choice

Hi all, I want to buy new carburetors for my 1982 GS750S Katana. The engine is mostly stock, with the exception of 813cc big bore kit and the accompanying minor compression change. It breathes through pod-style filtres and a 4-1 Yosh pipe.

What should I buy? Here are my qualifications:

    - I don't want to have to fiddle too much to get them to fit...I'd like to buy a set made for this application.

    - I'm not planning on making any head mods. The top end is fresh, but it's stock.

    - It needs to be streetable. I spend lots of time just riding around the city...however, performance is obviously the goal.

Cost isn't really a concern, I've budgeted a fair amount of cash for this purchase. Also, I really want to just buy them brand new, rather than going and digging in wreckers yards'.

So what should I get? I read a bunch of the threads here on the topic, but would like some more focussed info.

    Thanks in advance!

Hmm, upon further research, perhaps a set of Keihin FCRs? Now I wonder what size would be best and where I would buy them....

      I don't think fcr's come with a choke.

      Mikuni RS do.

If you are making any elevation changes you may want to stick with vacuum slides.

I know of a guy that dose major work to CB1100F, and has the FCR's. He would swear by them. This guy not only dose this the work to the CB's as a hobby, he also makes a living being the shops Honda DOHC guy.

If you have the money to spend on FCR's then go for it. They don't have the choke, but Ray never seemed to mind. Also the FCR's can be had new, I don't know about the Mikuni. Off the top of my head I think 29mm sounds good for a 750.

Are they a good choice for around town use? And in your previous post about elevation changes, what did you mean by that?
