tank slappies
Anyone have any issues with tank slappies on an 1100GK or similar bike? Mine is lowered in the back and has progressive springs and hard oil in the front and when I land wheelies sometimes it gets real squirrely. Has anyone had this issue yet? If so, can you buy a stabalizer for this bike or would I have to make one?Tags: None

Put the rear suspension back to its proper height with properly sized Progressive shocks. Lowering the rear is an excellent way to destabilize a very stable GS. The spring rates, damping, and suspension travel should also be in balance front to rear.
Or stop doing wheelies... if that's not an option, see if you're bottoming the forks when you land (place a zip tire around one fork tube to see where max compression is). If you are, then you'd need a longer preload spacer and/or heavier springs. Fork springs that are heavy enough for aircraft carrier landings like this likely do not exist, so maybe a better option would be to work on your landing technique.
Do you have a lot less weight on the front than the back? Is the fairing (if any) mounted securely or flapping around when you land one of these skyshots?
I think a fork brace would be a Bad Idea in this situation, since a misalignment with the brace on would likely break the fork or brace when landing.

I'm not landing hard enough to bottom out. I'm actually surprised at how smooth it is. Maybe it is the ride height though. There's no fairing or windshield on it and the rates and damping are fairly even. I can see its something I'm doing. I never noticed it until I put the narrower drag bars on. Even then its not very noticable. I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever had a slappy on a GS. Thnx.
