I am looking to buy another performance exhaust for my GS1000E (1979) and here in the UK the choice is very limited basically a choice between the Motad and Marshall 4 into 1. Can anybody recomend a good 4 into 1 performance exhaust which retains a good quality of finish (chrome). Thanks Guys

Commodus
I can not advise on the Marshall system, but I can say that the Motad quality seems poor these days. They rust out depressingly soon and the flanges are often flimsy.
I hear they used to be good though...

I'm very happy with the Vance and Hines 4 into 1 on my GS1000E. The chrome finish is lasting well and it has great performance and sounds incredible. The price is good too - about $280-300 US.
I can't comment on the Marshall or Motad as I haven't run either.
Vance and Hines has a European office in Sweden which may cut down on shipping costs if you decide to order from them.
A picture of my GS1000E with the V&H 4 into 1 exhaust is here.Last edited by Guest; 09-22-2006, 09:29 PM.

Forget chrome if you want it to last in the UK climate.
Depends on your budget, but remember that GSX1100 systems will fit at the head.
The Eagle Mach7 GSX1100 fits, but you would need to adapt the centre section (ie have a new one made) to suit the GS1000.
Or you could have a bespoke stainless steel system made that would accept whatever end can you wanted. There are several stainless pipe specialists in the UK that will make up whatever you wanted.

I have the V&H and it allows you to retain the center stand. Sounds nice also and increases power a bit too.

I suggest this header:
It can't be all that expensive - it not like it's made of gold - only titanium.
