Welded Crank

Ok I want to start looking around for the best priced place to get my crank and clutch basket welded. What type of shop should I look into having it done? I know that it is very precise work and not just any person with a welder can do it.

Also what can I expect to spend on these parts individually?

Best price? I don't think I can help you there. If you want it done right Pearson and Falicon are my two choices. Do a search in this group before you ask. Its been covered.

Price is based on how fast you want to run. I sure the hell would not have a stock crank welded up without having the whole thing torn down first. My last stock crank I picked up on eBay was about a $1000. I am guessing that my next one will be closer to $1500, if it can be saved. My last clutch basket was around $400.

I've used Falicon and Gardener racing concepts. Neither of the cranks blew up so i would say either are good. I think Gardener may have been slightly cheaper. if i do another crank I may send it to gardener again.

Why are you doing this?

Early GS 1000s had problems with both of these areas, but the cranks were fixed in 79.

If you're going to drag race the motor, then the crank welding should be done.

You can get clutch baskets already done from several sources

Back in the day Suzuki used a special glue on the GS racing cranks
