Sent the exhaust over to Airborn Coatings to be stripped and coated. It was starting to get a little too much rust and I wanted to stop it before it got any worse. I heard a lot about the aluminum ceramic coatings. We will see how it holds up. Their only concern was not to hot lap the bike. I guess they coat both the inside and out. I was worried about the stuff flaking off on the inside then getting sent into the turbin. I guess it's not an issue.
I will post a few pictures once it returns.

so many things and so little time and money,
gs1000 Yosh replica - finish up some little details, maybe port and polish the head, maybe a 1085 piiston kit, get the seat cut and covered, add the steering stabilizer. new chain and sprokets, remove auto cancel turnsignal box/rewire turn signals, install padock stand bobbins on the swing arm.
78 gs1000 E - spit shine, get it road ready (clean carbs, flush breaks, the basic bring it back to life deal) so i can sell it in the spring so i can afford all my above dreams.
sv1000s - start prepin for a sport touring rig, get some converti bars, install heated grips, sync my throtel bodies, zero in my throtel bodies crank sensor, install a power strip for future aux electrical goodies, get a touring windscreen.
the list never ends... i am getting poor just thinking about it all.

9"?! We should post the snow fall in your area when we post. Around here we havn't got jack. Maybe a half inch, but most of the schools were closed on Thursday due to ice. I heard you guys in Chicago got blasted.
No new work on the engine dyno to report. I have all the LabView done, but my friend needs to do some more fab work before we get going again.
A lot has been going on with the old girl. All the welding is done. I still weigh too much and when the bike leaves, my body seems to want to say at the starting line. It was enough force that I cracked the seat and fender support. Added a little molly to it in case I don't loose anymore fat over the winter.
I plan to shift using nitrous for next year instead of air as well. One less thing to fill and take up space. I got the new nitrous regulator in from Schnitz on Friday. It's nice. About 4" long and 1" dia. It has an inlet, outlet and two gauge ports, all 1/8" fittings. I plumbed the air clutch to the low pressure gauge port (smaller port) and it seems to work just fine. They claim well over 100 shifts on my little tank, assuming that is all your using it for.
I had bought an old turbo on eBay for parts. It turned out to be in pretty good condition. I got a new rebuild kit and used the compressor to upgrade my little turbo I was uising last year (also an eBay purchase). Last year the bike would stop building torque at about 7800 RPM or so. It would pull pretty hard in the first 1/8 running 5.6 sec at 130 MPH, but then would fall off. At best I would only gain another 25 MPH in the last half and shifting above 8000 was a big no-no. This should solve it.
The bike only has a single 42mm carb on it. This thing has been a real pain to figure out. I decided to toss in the towel for next year and added a Hobbs switch to the intake. The switch drives another fuel solenoid that just sprays raw fuel into the turbo once the boost pressure gets high enough. Last year I could only put out 18 PSI or so before the engine would start to lean out. The added jet should be able to supply more than enough fuel to cool it back down and allow me to bump up the pressure.
She also got a brand new tire. This time I got the motorcycle one instead of the car type. It's a bit softer and I am hoping that it will help during the cooler nights. I also dropped 2 more teeth off the rear. It was geared to 155 in the traps at 10K. I hope to raise the limiter to 10500 and get the bike to 170. It should be enough to get it into the 7's.
Next week I hope to put her back together. The exhaust is due to be shipped Monday. YA HOOO!!!
Where is the warm weather!!!!!!

Nice setup.... this may be a newb question but why do you need to upgrade the front.. is the stocker just that bad?? I know you need to swap wheel to get a bigger wheel tire combo back there.......
As far as plans to mine I am planning on a carb rebuild and rejet with the K/N pods, researching if i need the ignition upgrade as well. All other mods are goin to be in the looks dept. Not diggin the "cruiser" look the bike has right now.......

Looks like everyone else is having fun. My garage is getting too cold to do anything.
I know racing season is over, but Martin finally posted a few new pictures...
After winning the last race of the year and taking out all of the adults to win the points series for Martin, the kid was interviewed on the local TV. They asked everyone how fast they were, except him and he never offered to tell them. Maybe I should get his autograph...
The was the last race of the season when dad gave it up to the kid. The two GS's, Shark on the right, little bike on the left. L to R, me, kid, dad and the crazy pit kid.
Kid getting some action. We never did give him any more power and he managed to get the bike into the 8.60s.

Newer front ends have better brakes, better suspension and let you run a better, stickier radial tire up front. The shorter forks and smaller 17" wheel also quicken up the steering. The stockers aren't terrible, but they do flex under load causing weave and wobble, and motorcycle suspension has come a long way since 1980. My old forks had no preload or rebound adjustments, the new ones do.
A rear end swap is coming up in this project and it's unwise to mix and match bias ply tires with radials. Hope this helps.
Your carb rebuild/rejet should give you a nice boost in power. :-D

What's going on in my garage?
Same as in the house...
She just sits there while I thumb my beard and dream of what I can do to make her look better, and ride better.
Did I just SAY that?! Did I actually say that?
Working on restoring my buddies VF500 for his school project - he calls me his "expert mentor". HAHAHAAAAA HAAhaa.
And still trying to decide streetfighter or stock resto with mild breathing mods.
