So it's paint, not powder coat. Looks great!

I'm planning to paint my cases black so my "new" 1981 engine can masquerade as an '83 and my 1983 GS850G will finally look like it's supposed to.

So this may be a basic, dumb question, and possibly a topic for another thread, but what kind of surface prep did you do to get the cases ready to paint? Did you need to use a primer?

I stripped and then bead blasted the cases to get all the old paint and crap off. Then I primed them with a self etching primer. Then shot it with the paint.

I got all my new o-rings and seals today from Bike Bandit. I'm ready to start assembling the motor. I just need some time. My days off were today and tomorrow. I worked 11 hours today and have to go back in tomorrow for another 3 or 4 hours. Right now I just feel like dinner and some relaxation. I guess the garage will remain cold.

        1) Finishing engine mods on the Trans Am
        2) Installing an oil cooler on the GS
        3) Finishing the GPz so I can take it to the Gap next year

The paint does look nice. She's just sitting under the blanket keeping the dust off until the last parts come in.

Getting closer. I found an oil pan and a oil filter cover for it. This was the latest find. Same grind but in the old style box.

It's like a warehouse of parts!!! Whats the ground shots look like?

That center pipe looks like an old Yoshimura I have. I lost the baffle for mine and it needs to be plated. It has thicker walls than my VHR pipes. Better quality but changing the oil was a pain..

I keep getting headaches when I walk thru the garage!

That center pipe is a Kerker I scored off ebay. There's another header up there. Don't know the brand, but it's a cheapo. Really thin walls. The rest of the collection are stock pipes for a GS1000 (3 sets) and a GS1100 (2 sets).

The only thing missing is the V&H on my 1000C

I was thinking the same thing. The one on the far right looks like a Kerker, the one in the middle looks more like a Yoshi pipe.....BadBillyB

                        Fuel Injection

2.0 VW throttle body, 28lb/hr injectors (plan on running 4), converting my BB25 to a FB25, megasquirt controller, and odd ebay parts to finish it off.

Bike as it sits now. I am probably going to be selling a few parts off it.

I need to do a project like this!! I just can't justify putting it onto my turbo bike.

Are you staying with a draw system? Can't wait to see this thing running.

Do you have the wheel for the F?

Yes, started with a draw system. I have an F wheel but if you have a super clean one (or know someone who does) I would be interested in it. The one I have was cut a half a thou deep balancing up the wheel at one point by the PO. It was just enough to take the nice bevel off the leading edge of the vanes. I bought an 86 FJ1200 in the mean time so if this thing isn't ready to hit the pavement on the first week I am ok on the FJ for a bit. It's hard getting stuff done with the bike in Woodstock and me living in Ottawa in an apartment.

So, r u staying with a draw system when u switch to EFI?

I changed my other turbo so both are E/F 0.40s now. The only problem is I want to do some testing first, so you would have to wait.

It won't be a draw through system anymore. I am putting the injectors right in the manifold pointing down the intake runners. No fuel going through my compressor side anymore. I am trying to use as much of the old plumbing as possible so I am keeping the turbo under my seat (instead of mounting it out front closer to the exhaust ports).
