    monoshock linkage questions

    Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind the linkages on the GSXR's - why aren't the shocks just placed in a direct line from the swingarm to the frame, like this:

      So it's just so you can use a lower spring rate? seems complicated if that's all it's there for - there must be some other advantage, or manufacturers would just go with a (cheaper) stiffer spring rate, and avoid the cost of all the linkage, no?

      Just trying to wrap my brain around it...

        You can get more wheel travel out of a shorter stroke damper.
