I have an article by John Ulrich that gives a LOT more detail than the one above. There are different carbs, (keihin CR 31mm) & lots more details on every aspect of the engine.I'll send a text version to anyone interested. PM me if you want a copy

Thanks First Timer and Humhead, that was a very interesting article by John Ulrich...I printed it out and saved it in my "secret folder"......The cam specs they were using are very close to the Web-Cam grind #110......I was intrigued by the use of a "full floating" rear caliper and never thought about the effects of the rear brakes on the suspension. Makes sense to me. Just reading that article brought back a lot of memories that I had long forgotten about. In 1981 or 82, I bought 2 cans of Kal-Gard "Gunkote" and painted my valve cover, cylinder head and block. I baked them in the oven as directed on the can....I think the smell (after 20 plus years) is still in my nose. My girlfriend (now my wife) was not happy at all....Heres a pic of the "gunkoted" motor....1175cc fed through 33 smoothbores

Here are the high-res scans I made of the Yoshimura GS1000 article as taken from an original copy of the May '79 version of Cycle World. (Gotta love eBay!)

                    Merry Christmas.

in the report, i found yoshimura fully polished up the surface of the crank and the rods.
Dose it really help in performance or just look good?
