Gsxr Carbs Installed On 1980 Gs1100
Has any one installed newer GSXR Carbs on a older GS1100? I have a chance to buy a set of 1993 GSXR 1100 carbs. I was wondering if there would be any significant gains over my stock setup which is a 1980 GS 1100 16 valve ,4 into 1 header. Thanks JoeTags: None

93 GSXR 1100 may be to big, IIRC in 93 they were 40mm, I suggest you check this out.
If they are 38mm they will go straight on, you will need a different throttle assembly though, as they run a push pull cable.
Flatslide carbs will make a difference to throttle response, and should add a little top-end power.

Carbs
93 & up are watercooled gsxr's the spacing will not work. You will need 86-92 oilcooled carbs. 86-88 gsxr 1100 are 34mm, 89-92 1100 36mm U.S models, 88-89 750 36mm, 90-92 38mm 750. You can use your stock throttle cable with factory gsxr carbs the aftermarket mikuni RS flatslide carbs use a push/pull throttle cable set up. They are a good upgarde for the 1100's if your using aftermarket exhaust and individual filters. The 36mm carbs will work and are easier to come by than the 86-88 34mm 1100 carbs. The 87 gsxr 750 also upgraded to the 34mm from 31mm in 86. Hope this helps.Last edited by Guest; 01-04-2007, 05:34 PM.

I am sure others might work better for drag racing or whatever, but those worked well for my general floggin habits.

He has tried it all, broke it all, raced it all, and the busy shop with trophies to prove it.
