    Thanks Mark

I know what you mean Ryan and when I found my Katana head for a buy it now price of 49 bucks and it had the manifold boots still on it I counldn't pass it up. I think just buying new boots is like 100 bucks.

GS cam sprockets, GSXR 1100 front cam guide, two 28mm freeze plugs, a couple of o-rings to seal up some studs and tube of RTV and your 90% done

Today I'm going to put the slick back on and get ready for Friday's action

Just got done putting the the slick back on the rim. Removing the 170 is a real pain but the slick goes on like butter. I guess I'll try 20 or 25 psi since I'm not going to run bars.

If things workout this Friday might even try the nos once or twice.

Got 10 runs in tonight and I was still spinning the slick at the top end. I don't think it's the lockup clutch cause it spins and start bucking like riding a big texas longhorn.

I started at 20 psi and spin on launch, then 10 psi spin again then back down to 8 psi and the front end finally started to come off the ground. Now my best run was with the 20 psi and it was 7.55 at 99.93mph, my 60ft was a big 1.98 and I was foot shifting the bike. With a mph like that I should be in the high 6's and low 7's

The engine sounds like a 2 stroke on the pipe at the topend, I was shifting at 9.8K but this head can go up to 12.5.... don't think the GS bottom end would like that. I back off the gas let the bike hook back up get back on the gas and it does the same thing. I can't be making that much more power than when it was a 1395 motor???

On my last run I just baby it out making sure I didn' spin the rear tire and it was a 7.85 at 98.81mph. Maybe it's time for a new slick. Even with the slick last year and bars it didn't spin or buck like it's doing now and whats strange is I'm not running bars.

I did installed the oem springs back in the clutch about half way into all my runs tonight to get more feel. I'm almost temped to put the 630 gears and chain back on to see it it does the same thing. Right now I'm using a 530 chain 14 front and 42 rear with a 7 inch slick

They did prep the track tonight cause we got the pro mods in town, a jet car and the 10.5 guys tearing up the track so I'm just alittle puzzle on my results.

I can't imagine if I advance the cam timing back up to normal and installed some hotter cams, heck I'm even running 38cv carbs and not the lectron's yet and don't even ask about the nos.

It's going to take alittle more time to figure this combo out

Yep, I know what you mean about the bucking. Mine feels more like a horse, but no more cold day testing has solved it.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you, but at least your starting to make some passes with it again! MPH looks pretty good for spinning.

The kids little bike uses a 7" tire and has short times around 1.26. Have seen it dip as low as 1.23. Has bars. So don't give up hope. The 7" tire can work!

It's time to head to the shower and then off to the track...

I was thinking of putting the bars back on and see what happens.

Maybe with the 14/46 gearing of last year maybe it wasn't really pulling on the tire, but since it's at 14/42 now maybe the motor is showing it's stuff.

Could there be that much less drag with a 530 chain???? I know it drop 2 pounds of rotating weight

It's either the track or the tire?? .... gotta love test and tune

Finally got around to degreeing the Katana cams. With the notches lined up the intake was a 105 but the exhaust was 95??? So I advanced the exhaust cam until I got it to 105. So now that the track is in better shape and the cams are both at 105 will see how it goes soon.

Last time out I was at 7.12 and 102 mph in the 1/8

Hey Jake, where do you want the power to be in the RPM? Having the cams at 105 will be a LOT of bottom end & make it harder to launch without bars. I would try them at 108 & 110. Ray.

I would like 110 on both, but since these are the small katana cams I think I'll just leave them there at 105 until i get some 350 cams. Right now my cranking compression is around 275 and I'm using VP MS109 so I'm itiching to get back to the track soon and see the results.

Also by next month I'm going to pull the head and take a look at the pistons and head chambers just to make sure nothing is going on in there.

Jake, are you going to try the 88 GSXR 750 cams or buy something else? Let me know because I have both & I also sell Cam Motion cams & the G4s would work GREAT in your motor! Ray.

I like the G4's and it did run good in the 1100 and 1150 head but since there's not much meat around the cam bolt hole's ???? It did break on me and bent a few of my newly installed SS intake valve's when pieces of it fell into the path of the crankshaft sprocket. I think i'll try the 88J cams and they have alot more material around the bolt hole.

I see that Ron Ayers sells them for around 145 a piece.

It's been a while so here the lastest update.

The oil rings that are on studs 1 & 3 that keeps the oil from leaking out of the bottom of the head are still working great.

Still haven't put a top end oiler on it yet cause I'm still using 1100 studs on the ends that are thinner. Pulled the cam caps off and they look great.

Got 73 1/8 mile runs with no problems related to the 750 head. I'm going to pull the head this winter and see what the tops of the 13-1 pistons look like. I think the head will last along time since I'm shifting at 10K and redline for this head is 12.5K.

Best time with bars are 60ft 1.40, 330ft 4.00, 1/8 ET 6.26 and 108 mph with Katana cams. Gearing is 14/45.

I just installed some 340/320 cams and got them at 111/110 degrees. I couldn't advance the intake any more cause my clearance is .055 on the intake. Exhaust is better cause I got over .100, I could go more but I like to keep the cams the same. Will see at the track if it improves.

With alittle more tuning maybe I can get it closer to 6.0051 \\/

All in all with the 1166 kit it's faster than it's ever been. Still got the MTC 1395 block sitting on the shelf waiting for that special day

I changed back to the 630 chain and sprocket's 14 front and 46 rear due to the 530 was starting to get alittle long.

Anyhow best package so far is 60-1.41, 330-3.94, 1/8-6.11, mph-112.81

Looks like the 340/320 cams were good for 3 more mph and drop close to 2 tenth's

The head is up to 93 runs with no issue's so far. I'm not going to change anything more and just keep running it as is. I'm hoping with the cooler weather coming it should pick up alittle more speed.
