There an old used set of Italian piggybacks on ebay right now I cant wait to see how much somebody pays for them. Ive been following this post with interest. I wont need new rears soon. The only decent parts on the bike when I bought it were the Ohlins rear shocks.
After reading this post Im interested in wether or not they need a rebuild or what. The adjustability of them seems to work and is pretty cool. At WOT I can make the bike stand up at every gear change or stiffen them and grind rubber off at every change.
If those piggy backs will work the same and are rebuildable I may be tempted since they look sweet.

In the mean time I will certainly keep you all up to date on the rebound/compression dampening progress.........cheers
I'm very willing to spend more on a good set of shocks, that just happened to be what I got them for.
Good luck on your work. LIke everyone else here, we're waiting with baited breath. You'd have to be crazy to be sane in this world -Nero
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back....... You probably highsided.
1980 GS550E (I swear it's a 550...)
1982 GS650E (really, it's a 650)
1983 GS550ES (42mpg again)
1996 Yamaha WR250 (No, it's not a 4 stroke.)
1971 Yamaha LT2 (9 horsepower of FURY.)

My only point was the scarcity of them and there high cost if buying from a Kawi dealer.....I am sure they will work well for you.

Mike,
Just a question for you. I notice you own a couple of vintage Kawis. What forum do you use to gather info about your bikes?

I dont. Those KZrider guys are dumbasses. Theres only about 10 guys that take turns belittleing everybody like they are the Kawasaki design team.
I dont modify the Z1R cuz its worth too much and I dont modify the 550, just repair when needed and Ive got books for that.
I think this is the last year I'll have those two anyway. Theres a guy in Bellingham that is willing to overpay for the Z1R and the 550 has 67 thousand on it. My boy wont ride it anymore since its old and frumpy.
Kids. It still gets 65 mpg hwy and over 50 mpg at all times. Anybody out there want a 80' KZ 550A? with Cafe' fairing and luggage rack with lockable trunk...(He says as if Dangling a carrot). It does need cam chain guides but sweet other than that.
That reminds me, Im going to call that guy tonight about the Z1R

Anyway the issue of fork springs is of course an important concern. I have always replaced my seals everytime fork springs are swapped out.I know you all would, but i had to mention it . I am very fortunate to know an ex factory honda race team suspension technician and he has been part of our R&D process and recomends a non progressive set of fork springs as part of the front rear package. We are not in that part of the business as of yet. We cannot recomend a rate for the suzuki applications currently.....but we will.
