    Billy's 78 GS1000 mods

I've been farting round with the bike trying to keep from going nuts. Winter is too long up here in the north.

I've got a couple of projects on the go.

Here's my GS1150 fairing cut down to cafe like specs:

    nother.
I should note that Solosuzuki's GS1100 is the inspiration.

        Discs

I bought the parts for twin brakes from Tom_MLC. They're on the way. In the mean time I painted my discs, (I've got a spare) and bolted them up.
        Pics of that later.

Billy, I don't know if you saw this. Somebody else doing a front brake upgrade to duals inspired a discussion about replacing the master cylinder, too.

Awesome. That looks great. You want the head light that fits the hole?

                Thanks Herman!

I think so. Does it fit in the bucket? Is there a bucket?

                Tom. I'lll check that link.

Thanks Tom. Got in from Herman for a set of gauges. Gotta love the GSR!

Looking great! I've got a pair of slotted front brake rotors in excellent shape from an '80 GS1000E if you're interested.

Here's the wheel put mostly back together.
I ordered a new tire. It should be in in a week or so. So when it's in I'll go visit the tire shop I used to work for and swap it on.

The tire still has lots of tread left and there is NO cracking or checking, but it's about 12 years old, so.. time for a new one.
I probably shouldn't have ridden on it last year.

Guys, the slotted rotors are a big improvement, but they won't work with the stock calipers. You'll need to find a set of calipers from an '80 GS1000E. Ahem! Hey PJ, you got another set?

Billy, if you want to try it, everything is a bolt on, and the slots look cool. I did this on my new red wheels. But you'll need to find those '80 calipers.
