    1150 Carbs on an 1100

I managed to lay my hands on a set of 1150 carbs and coils at a reasonable deal. My 1100 EZ has allways had a flat spot ot two, it idled a bit rough and had an idle mixture screw that was snapped off fairly well out. Stripped the 1150 carbs and discovered that they are 36 mm CV's rather than the 34 mm origionals though the boot fitting was the same. I had a carb kit here and fitted new float valves and gaskets. I noticed the main jets were 120's ewhere the old 1100 carbs were fitted with 112.5's. After a bit of head scratching and guess work about the 1150 pump VS the 1100 and the larger carb bore, I rummaged around in my shed and came up with a set of 115's. Put it all together and, viola a new bike, it idles well, has no more flat spots and has a heck of a lot more grunt than it ever had. Its like a new bike. Have had a good look at the plugs after a long ride and they are showing a good colour and the oil temp is lower. I suspect more fuel usage but I've been running 3 teeth down on the rear sprocket so It is fairly lean and mean anyway on a trip. A reasonable mod to do on any 1100 I reckon.

thats a very popular mod. Another one is using 1150 cams.

Also, put a set of 3.0 ohm (green) Dyna coils & plug wires on it as the STOCK coils are notoriously GARBAGE. This helps a LOT! Ray.
