    Tires

Well I'm new to tire buying (never bought a tire in my life! ) and my '82 gs650gl is in need of new tires. What brand do you recommend that actually makes a tire for this bike? It has Dunlops on it right now but I wanted to get some opinions. Thanks!

Here is the discussion from the last time this question was asked, on March 12th. Found it by clicking on search, and typing "tire".

asking this question is like the coke vs pepsi argument...noone is right, and noone is wrong.

I like the Metzeler Lasertec line (used to be Metronic). Others favor the Pirelli Sport Demon as a sticky option.

Go with what you're comfortable with, it's why I run the Metzelers.

I liked the Pirelli Sport Demons - great grip/traction and braking in the dry and the wet. Made a *huge* improvement in the handling of the bike.

liked the metzlers, but the rear didn't go more than 6000 km. The michelins were too greasy in the cold and rain and the front cupped really early, so bad you could feel it. the bridgestone spitfires were actually good tires and quite cheap and long lasting....longer than the metzlers anyway. I have bridgestone batlaxx on now just new. New tires always better than the old ones. ...(thats odd that the font changed) And another thing, dont armorall your seat either

My next set will be the sport demons or the Avons. I have the Dunlop Elite II on right now, they seem to last forever!

Pirelli Sport Demon for sporty riding and Dunlop 204's for touring.
Buy the best tyres that your money can get for the style of riding you do.
                      Thats it.
                      Cheers B
