    flip up kat

Hey guys just picked up my first old school katana.I own a few bikes(includeing a soon to be racing 1143 prostreet gsxr 1000)but always had a soft spot for old katana's.It is a flip up 84 750 that needs more HP.
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried to put 1000 or 1100 block and pistons on one or if there is a 900 + bigbore avalible for it.Any help would be great
    Thanks.

Yep I think the 1100s will slot right in. The 1150s too. I've been told varying things about this, some people say you have to modify the front brackets. I've never done it myself. But everyone says it's easy to do and there are lots of bikes out there with that modification.

There are also 813cc (I think) big bore kits and cams and carbs and whatnot for the 750s, should you choose to stick with that motor.

That bike has the same motor as the '83 750 E and ES that was sold here in the states that year only. The flip-up '84's were not sold here in the states. There are not many performance parts still available for that engine. oldschoolgs or Billy Ricks are the guys to ask about what you can do to that engine as far as performance mods. Mine is stock except for a header and pod style aircleaners.

Wiseco lists a big bore kit for the 83 GS750ED and ESD. http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Catalogs/...etOverbore.pdf

The gs1100 and gs1150 engines would likely not fit. I have seen an gsxr1100 engines used (bom), albeit a tight fit.

The gs700 pistons can be used for an increase in CR.

        Good luck.

Hmm, Web Cams lists cams, Sudco says the RSs will fit, I know there are big bore kits listed by Wiseco (as listed by a previous poster). These ARE American companies, could they be wrong perhaps?

Sorry, I was just trying to point out that this model did not have the roller bearing crank style motor that the '82 and '83 750 kats had. Just saying that there never was the selection of performance parts for the plain bearing pre gsxr style 750 motor that the roller bearing motors have always had. The biggest overbore you can go with this motor has always been 814. Never said there were none, just not many. And I listed the names of two gentlemen who would know the most about these motors on this forum.

Oh okey doke, I thought those companies might be wrong cuz that motor was not sold in America.

Thanks for all the input guys looks like I will learn alot by hanging around here.I think I will pull the 750 and swap in a 84 gs 1150.I am working a deal on a donor bike.If it falls through I will look around at the track and see what I can come up with.A gs 1000 would be just right but are hard to come by.I will post some pics soon.
