I used the PC310. You were the inspiration for getting an odessey and relocating the battery. Thanks.

Next to making a GS1000 lighter, the hardest part is making it look smaller. They just look huge. (because they are huge) The aluminum swingarm, bright color and losing the rear fender really help bring the scale of the bike down considerably. It looks good. :-D
I do think a small body color front fender would really finish it off.

Very nice bike you put together! I like the black cases and how you eliminated the rear fender. Looks awesome, especially the spokes. I have some similar mods on my GS but my wheels weigh a ton. I really wanted spokes on mine but didn't want to run tubes. Are those GS rims w/tubes or something else?

if you can find gs hubs you can always fit some 17" rims that work with radial tires on her.

                spokes

Those are GS spokes from an N or EN model I think; and yes they have tubes in them. I thought they would save a lot of weight; however when I weighed the cast al. and spoke rims I only got a 2.45 weight decrease going to the front spoke and the rear cast al. rim is actually 1.15lbs heavier than the spoke version. And ironically the dealer probabley put 1lb on the front to balance it!! :-| Not as significant as I hoped. But I still like the look. I do want to run radials and GSXR rims somday but I would need to go to a different fork setup. Currentley a radial would fit in the rear with that gs1100 swingarm. I did so many mods at once Im just tired of working on it and want to ride it as much as I can before winter hits.

                  The fender is painted

Ok, so this weekend I painted the fender to match the bike. I used to like the look of running no fender but I hit some road construction the other day and little pieces of freash asphalt were sticking to the front tire and spraying my bike and me; not fun! So here it is, what do you guys think? I think it kinda looks like a red SV650 or somthing. Today I also weighed it again. It was on a scale used at a grain tower for trucks. I got 480lbs...full tank! A week ago I weighed it at a truck weigh station along the hwy and that registerd 750lbs with me on it. Im a big guy at 260lbs. I dont know how accurate these scales are because they are designed for large trucks; but at least I think I reached my goal or surpassed it of 495lbs full tank. The stock bike was 565lbs. Not bad for a 78 1000cc bike!
However I still have some little electrical demons to work out. I keep blowing my fuse that lets the instrurment panel lights work. So now I have to search for that. After I find that I can call her DONE!...till somday for round three mods (bore engine out, professional paint, etc...damn its so hard to quit. Ill never sell this bike!!
