    Exhaust

I am wanting to go with an aftermarket exhaust. GS850. Is there any recommendations of who to go with regarding price and performance/sound?

I have seen kits from Marshall and V&H. Is there other alternatives?

Everyone I've heard from loves their V&H. If I were to buy a new set, though, I'd seriously look into having them ceramic coated. Aftermarket exhausts love to rust for some reason.

      V&h

So just make sure I look for the V&H w/ceramic coating? Do you recommend where to buy?

      Thanks

Cheapest you can buy, search around the internet and Ebay. I don't think they come ceramic coated, though, you're going to have to send them out for that. Call around and get some prices before committing to that.

          Which V&H system?

I have seen a couple systems out there. What is the best to get the
4 to 1 Megaphone system or is there a drag pipe system available as well?

The V & H megaphone is street legal (baffles) and the pro pipe is not (no baffle). The megaphone starts around $ 300.00 new. If you are changing from OEM exhaust to a V & H magaphone you will probably need to re-jet. I did my 1000 and am in the process of re-jetting.

I love my Vance and Hines 4-1. Loud, but a v8 kinda sound. No rasp. You will need to rejet though

In Texas you don't need to run baffles to be legal. Your state may vary.

I currently don't have a baffle in my V&H 4-1, but it came that way and I'm planning on putting a baffle in, but I won't put much packing on it. Loud bikes save lives and all that jazz. I'm already running a Stage 3 kit.

The regular V&H baffle is fairly loud and does not meet the OE noise level requirements. Calling it "street legal" is a stretch unless your local/state laws allow modifying the bike for extra noise. That said, most local police have better things to do so you are safe as long as a baffle of some sort is in the can.

Keep in mind that you will need to rejet your carbs when installing the pipes which adds to the cost/time involved.

go with the normal 4 into 1 V and H. Drag pipes (ie sidewinder and the like) are not good for the street they have very bad right hand turn clearances.

Ill second that...unless all youre gonna do is drag race the bike and go in straight lines stay away from the drag pipes.
