adjusting idle fuel mixture...
As I understand it asjusting the idle screw simply adjusts the throttle plate position relative to the rest of the carbs... how do I just add more fuel without moving the throttle plate (lower A/F ratio)?Tags: None

Mixture screws are at the top front of each carb. Winding them out adds more fuel to the pilot circuit.

1 1/2 to 2 turns out from bottom is usually enough unless there's other stuff done . If the carbs have blanks on top where the mixture screws are just pop them out. Too much fuel on the idle circuit will make it idle lower than normal or occasionally stall. Been there

VM carbs have two adjustable screws, CV's only have one. Adjustment is different between the two types. On VM carbs there is a pilot fuel screw (on the bottom facing straight up) that will effect the low speed mixture, and an air bleed on the side. CV carbs have the adjustment on the top facing down - located under the cap (which needs to be removed for servicing).Ed
