gsxr front end installation on '81 gs1100

i understand a gsxr front end can be mounted to my '81 gs1100ex. anybody out there completed this procedure or aware of the complications invovled. are there particular model years that can be fitted without too much hassle?

Would I be correct in saying that if you modify the front , you should also modify the rear??

You can get by running a radial up front and a bias ply on the rear, but not vice-versa. Appearance wise the Gixxer front tire is the same width as most stock GS rears. Also, the rims won't match. Adapting a 4.5" Gixxer rim from the '88 750 isn't much work and will hold a 160 width tire.
