Home Made Swingarm 6" Over Stock

    HEY GUYS
i got bored last night and made 6" over stock swing arm for my gs750e dragbike.
    using spare steel from a kx1000 z1 haha i killed a z1!
every thing iv done can be done at home or bye a shop.

take a look and leave a reply please . i may just start making more of them to sell cheaper then all the $400-$500 dollor one's but much cheaper i hate over priced cycle parts.

here are some links to photo's of what i have done to this stock swingarm to make it 6in over stock.

Entertaining! Thanks for taking pics of the process - always nice to see the progression!!

    Now, here are my concerns:

    1. Now that it's a hardtail, won't it be uncomfortable if you hit a pothole?
    2. You haven't extended the seat yet, so that you can get at least two passengers on board.
    3. Have you enlarged your hardbags so you can carry more "stuff" on long trips? After all, with two or more passengers you'll need the extra room!!
    4. Have you fabbed up a trailer yet? I assume THAT'S what you'll be "dragging" around, right?

    ;-)

Welcome to the forum. Where in IL are you? We have a pretty good contingent of regular riders in the area so perhaps we'll meet up for a ride sometime soon!

    Regards,

        swing arm

guys i road it to day... the hard bars are for racing and theres no point to make the seat longer. i want the tire to stick out like that its a street/dragbike . not a touring brick! lol the frame is stock i just made the rear swing arm longer to help keep my front end down for better 60 foot time's
this is my first time building a swing arm. and will be building more soon to sell if every one like's p.s. all my gs bike's have NO SHOCKS. thats why iv got a big old butt!lol thanks guys

what are bag's for i got pocket's lol
and i dont do 2 ppl on one bike so i build her a gs750e too .. with hardbars

im in urbana ill and im a member of stone cold m/c's

            Looks great

Did you insert a smaller pipe inside the swingarm tube for more support at the welded joints.

Hope so. That is the scariest thing I have ever seen.

                  no what for? lol

yes i put 4 5inch pipes in side the swing arm... and drilled hole so i could weld ever thing in side and out..

iv been doing some hard launch's to day to see if i can crack it or brake it!!

6000rpm launch's i will say this when it hooks the slick the front come's up about 4 inch's and go strage with no prob's

so who care's how it look's is work's plus its bolted in where can it brake and how? knowing where to look for crack's or brakes will help me get it solid. p.s. there 25 welding rod's used to fill and weld it all. i think its strong. lol thanks guys keep the post coming good or bad,,

                    A+ ..... You shouldn't have any problems.

I'd like to cut mine but by the time I find some box alumnuim and have it all welded up it would be cheaper and faster for me to buy some bolt on extensions.

                      swing arm

true .. this was just a deal where i wanted to prove to my self i can do it.

so i started and did it all in my lil shop .. i would like to think of a way to test how strong it is. and what i have to do to make it brake... i think it will hold fine. need some body work to take out the grinder marks .

If I had the equipment to weld aluminum I'd try the same thing.

Let us know how it works out at the track.

                          swing arm

YA TRUE . so get a set if thats your bike it would look very mean with even a 4inch spacer... i plane on cleaning up my swing arm now that is done and tested a lil. lol fun times . do some snading and buffing out and grinder marks. then paint black. or spray bed liner on it .. tuff and hard to chip.
                          thanks for reading my post.
