    Quick Carb. Question

    I am thinking of replacing the orginal carbs. on my 80 1100E. I have done some mods. such as an 1166 kit, Stage 3 jet kit, Pod filters and V and H megaphone header. What type and or set of carbs would be the best and easiest to use? I do not race at this time and am really just looking for something that would be easer to tune.

    If you can find some 38mm CV carbs off a old GSXR 750 they would work great on the street's and do a good job on the strip too.

      The Mikuni round slide 33 mm carbs are GREAT on an engine like yours & VERY easy to tune. On a small engine like yours these would be my choice for smoothbores. You will get good throttle response, & good fuel economy also if you ride it mellow. Ray.

        I've always pushed the Mikuni flatslides. I've compared Hp figures to others with similar motors and I was making more HP. Our only difference was I was running the flatslides.

            I've got a set of Mikuni 34mm RS Flat Slides and I wish I would have bought a set of CV carbs like Racing Jake recommends. 38mm is pretty big but with your setup it sounds like you need it. The only problem with the RS carbs is since they're mechanical, the throttle spring is REALLY strong. It doesn't take long to wear out your right wrist trying to twist that sucker. For the open road, I'd highly recommend a set of CV carbs. You just need to find a set with the right spacing, 77-93-77 center to center and that's in mm.
