Ah, you don't like the color blue. Nice to know your looking out for me too.

The orange colored hose is what I have been using. It is very stiff, thin, won't compress much and is pricey. I think it uses fibreglass. If you need to make a bend, this stuff won't work.

I do make sure I clean all the parts with methanol or break clean and wipe out the hoses before putting them on. I never use any type of lube on them as well.

You can see from the picture that the old Mr Turbo kit keeps the hoses just long enough to couple the parts together. With the turbo being supported and the cross pipe preventing it from moving back I don't think it's coming apart any time soon.

oh contrare I love blue.. especially when mixed with red and white LOL

yeah we go through cans of brake cleaner for same reason

my hose def could have been about an inch longer for my likin... In fact I got to remember to ask nem if he planned to switch mine out with an old section of his that's longer before the weekend just to be on the safe side...

I have attached a picture of some of the silicone hoses laying around. The orange is what I normally use. This is a high grade line made for turbochargers. This is 3 ply and is very dense material. The black hose to the right is also a turbo line. 2 ply. This came from Turbonetics.
To the left of the orange is a standard section of 2 ply silcone line. It is not fibreglass. This is for a radiator. I tried to use this on the high pressure side once with not so good results. It could handle the fuel just fine but was so think that when you would torque the clamps the hose would want to slide off. Gave up on the cheap stuff and went back to a hose made for the job.

The far left hose is the one you don't like. This is a 4 ply line. Pretty much what I am using on the flag bike but I have black inplace of blue. It appears molded and is very glossy on the outside versus the radiator hose which has more a woven texture to it.

Anyway, you can see the color really does not mean anything.

I am sure Nem loves yamabond. Did he ever try and spread a little on the surface before putting the hoses on? Thinking the black or the gray would have to make it hold.

the two blues sound and look like what he's used before... nope never tried puttin any yamabond on there before hand... something to try if we swap it out again... I do need something slightly flexible to make a wee bit of an angle to line up well.. so sounds like the stiffy orange wouldnt' work as well.

we were up late late last night fighting with my shock swap so never got a chance to take a picture of what's on mine right now.. but I'm thinkin it's a regular black type hose...

I would try a little yamabond or run it by New anyway. It may not stick to the line your using. Maybe there is a different adhesive you could use, like silicone.


Got it all tightened down. I have to say that even if the clamps were left off, no way the hose could pop off. There is flat out no room for any of them to move. That turbo is going no where anytime soon.

Next step is to make a new blockoff plate and check for leaks and test the wastegate. Wastegate is used so I don't trust it. I'll let you know what sort of pressure it can hold. LOL.

Hey, do you use any sort of heat shield on on the turbo housing? This one is really tucked under the body and I am thinking to put something on it to protect the paint. I have a steel covered something or other for the Rajays that works good except has very sharp edges.

Got the O2 sensor bung and the turbo heat shield material ordered today. The fancy blankets were just to nice for the junker bike, so going to make my own.

Made the new blockoff plate, sealed the system and found all my leaks. Then ran into what I think is a problem with the brand new Garrett. It leaks around the compressor housing. With Ike, Huston was under a manditory evacuation, so no Terry. Thinking they may have cut the seal, forgot to put it in, or it's just the way it is. Big enough leak I think there will be a problem with idle. No service manual so I am screwed for now.

Oh yea, the hoses (even the blue monster) don't budge or leak at 25PSI and no glue. Just the T clamps.

Lots more rain from Ike. Hope everyone is doing fine. Would post a picture of the backyard, while the worst I have ever seen since we have lived here, pails the what I see on the news.

With the rain came a soaked track and no event. The points are locked down and we lost it by a point or some sht like that. Wouldn't have mattered besides bragging rights. We were way down in points overall. Cars dominated.

Did manage to get the O2 sensor bung installed. That's the DynaTek sensor that I bought with that pile of junk last winter. Going to check into a couple of local platers to see what they offer before sending the pipe off.


This is my cheapo heat shield from Jegs. It's a Thermo Tec product. Comes with enough material that I could make 3 or 4 from it for $35 or so. I have two layers under there so should do the trick. It's not tied down in the picture but you get the idea.


Hey E, ya like those T clamps? Once I get the turbo leak sorted out, I'll see how it does at 50 PSI.

The finals are this weekend and weather is looking good. Gamblers races start Thursday.

Ended up putting a seal in the turbo and was able to pressurize it to 40 PSI with no problems. The gauge is only rated to 30 and decided not to push my luck. 25 PSI is going to be about the max for the old junk pile anyway. Next I need to test the exhaust side. I have the plate and rubber gasket made up so that's Weds. job, plus get the flag bike back together.

Turns out we have a local plate shop that does headers for cars. That have a product they call nitroplate. It's a chemical process, so not sure it will take a beating like that aluminum ceramic coating I had done last time. May try it on the banana just to see.

The GSX decided to die. Traced it to the ignition switch. ^@#$^ thing has #%^$% bolts that are custom made to prevent theft. Have to hit the thing with a hammer and punch (really, that's what the Suzuki shop manual calls out). Decided to cut the harness back to have a look. Sure enough, the orange colored wire had melted into the others and became a fuse. Soldered in a new wire and shrink tubed it all then RTVed where the harness goes into the switch. Had to settle on black tape for the jacket. Pain, but could have been much worse.

Next I finished putting the flag bike back together. I rebuilt two starters for it. The one I put in appears much better than the stock 83. I posted a picture of the two to see if anyone knew what bike it came from.

No problems getting things back in place. Made a better hanger for the turbo while it was apart and changed a few hoses. Started right up.

Next was time to work on the heap. Blocked off the exhaust and applied pressure. SSSSSSSSSSSSSS..... Blew two holes in one of the pipes. Took a knife to it. Paper thin. Looks like the plating was holding it together.

Screw these $%^$#%& used eBay parts!!

Header is going to the saw. Always wanted a stainless exhaust anyway. A winter project in the making. The only good part was the wastegate is in very good shape and the cross over pipe appears good.

The olympics was the great. The kids and a few adults, all took it in stride. My favorite was where they had bowls filled with whipped cream. In the bottom of the bowl there was some bubble gum. Object was to get the bubble gum out ( no hands allowed and your partner held the bowl), chew it, make a bubble and pop it. Funny!


First gamblers dad went down in the quarters and the kid lost in the finals to our nemesis team Green. At least team Martin pulled the win.

Second gamblers dad took the whole thing.

Then made the mistake of eating something that made him sick as a dog. He was up most of the night.

We fell in the finals. Boy went out first round. He put a 0.010 on the guy but ran 7 out. Never lifted. I saw him waver just a little but not enough to cause that. Plus we lost 2 on the 60. Just a bad deal but that's racing.

Dad made it into round 3. Round 2 he only had a 60 bulb and he practiced but was all over the place. We knew people would be gunning for him but he was just not 100% after beign up all night. I ate the ham and was fine, must have been something else like the dip?

He must have backed out of the beam. I did not pit for him so I don't know what happened for sure but that's what the ticket shows. Red and very long 60. Oh well.

Food was great. We all had a good time. Won some money and nothing broke for a change.

LOL! Doug is Tyler's dad. We are not related by blood. I have helped them out for about five years now. These are the bikes I posted the pictures of earlier that have the blue flames on them. I was on a sabbatical so I doubt you would have seen me out there much.

I don't think many people took pictures. Maybe the tracks will post some for us next week.

love those clamps Mark... those are identical to theones Nem used when he redid my tubing at the time before last but it still pulled loose .. we think it was more so cuz the tubing was kinda short.. so this time he had a section abit longer that doesn't require so much force on the pipe and the plenum to be as close together and it's been good so far...

glad to see the site is back up adn runnin AND that things didn't get lost

we had an electrical issue ourselves this past Sat at the track... something with my launch and shift light is affecting my RPM's being read by the ECU and microtech box... it was acting like I wa****ting the redline when it was only really around 8K... nothing like trying to make pass when the bike was cutting you off just as you launched. Once we disconnected that from teh setup it had a clean pass.. too bad we only had time for one last pass just at dark ..
