    just finished an 1150 katana

I did a ground up on Calgary Vic's bike and engine build He wants to finish the cosmetics

You see all the time stuff for sale that read 1100/1150......

Well, not all 1100/1150 stuff are interchangeable. In my recent build I found some sutle and not so sutle differences.

    1. clutch basket won't fit... diff gear.
    2. intake cam is degreed different than the 1150.
    3. engine sprocket cover won't fit in the 1100 frame.
    4. piston wrist pins are 20mm where the 1100 are 18mm.
    5. output shaft is longer on the 1150 with a longer spacer.
    6. crank rotor has a much larger taper.
    7. There are no thrust washers for the idler gear.

Those are some so be careful when on ebay when it reads 1100/1150.

    cheers,

Rear center main bolts are longer, 1100 stud kits studs do not work, nor 1150 stud kits on early model 1150 cases, keep these bolts if you are planning on main studding an 1150 case.

head studs are different as well.

Cases have more meat, blocks have more meat and finning. If you plan on doing a BIG bore sleeved stock block, use an 1150 block if you can get one.

    Head is obviously quite different.

      good points NoBars,

I was emphasizing the parts that won't interchange. The studs I didn't know about.

        intake cams

yeah gday mate,1150 cams will go in 1100 motors you just have to dial them in from memory they give you an extra 40 thou. lift over black motor kat,and 60 thou. over the older silver motor gsx11, the only drawback is you dont have the tacho drive gear on the later cams, also if your doing a top end rebuild get the 1150 inlet valves 1mm bigger regards

They are "WORKS PERFORMANCE" shocks. Custom built.

How well do the Works shocks perform? compared to ohlins? I had some on my 83 gs1100e and they seem to work pretty good but were the cheapest ones I could buy.

They worked good. I really like the lightness. the springs are quite small. Made of some hi tech steel that needs less mass to work which makes them light and look light.

I love the look of the Works shocks. I was looking around at their website but can't find any prices. What's the going rate? Or do I not want to know?

                        Works shocks

I have them on my bike too. I think their great. I went from the old stock ones so the improvment was huge. I paid around $450 for them. I have the "cheaper" non-adjustable ones (pre-load adust only). But their rebuildable and of great quality. One thing I dont like is a loose aluminum ring that rattles on them at idle somtimes when im not on the bike. I called works and they said it is completly normal and this ring becomes loaded under acceleration, cornering, etc. It acts as some sort of "stiffer" secondary spring rate.

These had the Jetson's fins on the res but I had them change them out for the smooth canisters.

                          They were 800.00.
