    Front end swap 1980 GS850G

I am definately ready to swap the front end on my 1980 850g. I hear that a GSXR front will work. would anyone be able to clarify if this would work on my model or not.

    Thanks
    Justin

What are you planning for the rear?

Can't do it, because of the shaft drive in the rear. GSXR suspension swaps are limited to chain driven GSs.

You need to match tire types (bias/radial) between the front and rear of the bike. If you put a GSXR front end on the front of the bike which uses a radial tire, you'd need to modify the rear end of the bike to use a radial as well. Since radial rims are wider than your stock rims which run bias ply tires, you'd need to offset the drivetrain (in your case a shaft), which is impractical/impossible.

IIWY, I'd focus on upgrading the stock suspension for improved handling. New rear shocks, new forks springs, new fork oil, a fork brace and some new sport tires like the Pirelli Sport Demons.

Err yes you can do it ! :-D

the comments about the rear end are almost correct but there is one choice for a shafty swingarm etc that i know of ...... a gsx1100g the one with the oil cooled motor :-D not done it myself but have seen it done a couple of times so know its possible using the complete swingarm, diff, wheel etc

once you get that sorted the front end is dead easy \\/
