    GS1000 VM29: 5DL-31 or DJ Needles

Who has Mikuni VM29 S/B's on their GS1000 2V and replaced the Mikuni 5DL-31 Needles with DJ Stage III Needles? Is there any improvement in using the DJ Needles over the OEM 5DL-31 Needles. Just curious.

VM & DJ Main Cross Reference: I have seen this question come up several times so on Friday I measured my DJ Main 130 and several new VM Mains with a calibrated Mituoyo Digital Caliper & SpI Pin Gage Set. I found the the DJ 130 Main measures .054" Go. The VM 120 Main measures .047" Go and the VM 125 Main measures .049" Go. So based on these measurements the VM Mains appear to be sized in .001" increments. A little extrapolation than would infer the DJ 130 Main = VM 137.5 Main.

    Anyone care to validate?

To calculate between the two use a factor of .9375:
Dynojet Jet to Mikuni Jet simply multiply the Dynojet size by .9375 i.e.: DJ200 X .9375 = 187.5 Mikuni Size.
Mikuni Jet to Dynojet Jet simply divide the Mikuni size by .9375 i.e.: 150 / .9375 = 160 or DJ160 Dynojet.

      1) Where did you come up with that factor because it conflicts with my actual pin gage measurements. I found the equivalent VM Main is larger than the corresponding DJ Main (Mikuni VM 137.5 = DJ 130 ).

      2) Does this factor apply to VM & BS Main Jet? Not very clear

        Found it someplace online.

Seems extremely accurate in the jet sizes that I use (mikuni 110-135ish). Just figured it'd give you a starting place.

It may only apply to BS series carbs, I don't know.
