    powerband

i have a 77gs750. good little bike fun to put around on it. my friends have two similar year honda350's they seem to be good on torque which 2 cylidner usually do.
i guess my questions are should the power be kept in the higher rpms. i don't seem to feel a lot until over 4000 and really pulls in the 7range.

i had to advance the timing a little from stock. i have a boyer branson ignition box and it backfires when at stock timing has anyone heard of this.

lastly the bike really loose strength when put to higher speeds. i can cruise at 3000 rpm and acelearate on the street in 5th, but on the highway it'll be at 5000 in 5th and not want to change. am i expecting too much, or am i just being stupid becasue i know it loosing gear as it shifts.
    thanks seth

Sounds like something is wrong with your bike. Max power occurs at 9000 rpm or so, if your bike won't pull past 5000 on the freeway something is wrong. Did you change the exhaust and/or take off the airbox without rejetting?
