    Exhaust Suggestions for '78 GS1000?

As the title says looking for exhaust suggestions. The supertrapp on my new girl has seen better days. I would love to find a Yoshimura but know I'm dreaming. Hell I've never even seen one for sale. Maybe have a replica custom made? Harris would also be nice.

Assuming I couldn't find either of those any options or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm up for anything. Let me know what you're running! Thanks, Russell

Yeah I read on another thread that they were supposed to sound awesome. Know of any U.S. distributor? I Googled it but only found a place in the UK.

There are several places on the web (in the US) that have the V & H for that bike. It's on my wishlist as well, about $300.00 plus shipping.

I'll check that out on the V&H. I sent an email to Marving asking about a US distributor and they got back to me that CBXman was their only one. I contacted CBXman and they are checking on a price and turn around time for me. They'll have to order it (they only carry it for the cbx) and they may have to order more than one to get it done. I'll post here if that's the case and let everyone know how much it would be.

The only new ones you can get in the US are the V&H and the Mac. Jardine stopped making them, so did everyone else.

Someone told me that if you call Yoshimura they might have one left over but I really don't want to find out how much it would cost.

I was talking to a guy the other day who claimed he knows the guy that has the tooling for the old Bassanni exhaust. That would be awesome to start reproducing those.

The vance & hines is a nice pipe but low on the right side.

Found a period, old-school Yoshi aluminum can & mid pipe @ Baltimore Cycle Salvage a couple of weeks ago for $10.00 !!!!!!!! I'm adapting it to my Kerker header to try and control the sound a little bit vs. the original open megaphone.

sorry but you will have to put up with my ignorance but what are the laws in the usa regarding exhausts, can you make your own or are they stamped and strictly monitored?

Depends on the state I imagine. but most don't inspect bikes at all, only cars.

On a side note, GOD I LOVE the tanks on the older bikes. I have a 1981 G with the more camel humped tank. I wish they would swap.
