Stock exhaust is UGLY and sounds silly. You cant even tell the bike is running. Whisper quiet bikes are just not cool.

All your videos just show your bike at idle. The blue smoke adds to it. I don't mind a good sounding engine but I have no plans to open the pipe on my smoking weed wacker.

My old GS unplugged. The Harley I was running is also open so you can compare.

I understand there are many guys and gals on this website who cherish these bikes for the vintage pristineness that they hold, but some guys want to go beyond the stock(ness) of these bikes and go there own way, I have a 4 into 1 and have the exhaust cut off right after the foot peg, it sounds great, but don't blast it too loud in town. I would also agree that it is way quieter than any POTATO POTATO with aftermarket exhaust. I am thinking about a license plate that reads "BACNETR" . Anyone like? Just make sure you take the time to jet correctly.

Only smoking because It was cold outside and the bike wasnt near warm yet.

The "vintage pristineness" thing is lost on me. These are cheap throw away bikes. Might as well mod and beat on them until its time to move on.

You guys justifying your loud exhaust just because Harley's are louder are completely missing the point. Reminds me of a child that's been caught doing something wrong and then offers up the excuse that "Johnny did it too"…as if that justifies their own wrongful actions.

The fact so many of them are still on the road debunks the throw away bike theory. But to each his own. He's entitled to do what he wants with his bike.

Why is he entitled to damage my eardrums?

When these moronic dipschits rev their silly straightpipes in my face I give them a long earful of my Stebel.

                    I win.

Oh, it won't be long before exhaust valves get burned with the open header. Valve guides are already needing attention.

And those guys driving Honda Civics with giant fart can mufflers that still take 10 seconds to go from 0-50 WOT think their Honda's sound good, and not obnoxious, too.

I wouldn't mind a little rumble, but nothing loud. I respect eveyone's opinion here. Obviously this has been an argument that has been going on forever and will never have an end.

There is a benifit to being loud/loudish and that is people who dont see you hear you.
As much as I wish I had a quiet system on my 1000g its definately safer

I run a straight pipe (4 into 1 header with a 9" turnout) and it runs just fine. Pulls better. I do feel like an assclown when I just wanna putz around town and it's as loud as it is. I definately picked up a little, but I do still have the collector, just no baffles. Once I ran it with a megaphone, no baffles. that was redonkulous, and did lose some power. I did, also, tune it for the straight out, More than just a jet kit, actually checking plugs. I didn't tune it when it was justthe megaphone. With the turn out I (should) still be benefiting from the exhaust harmonics... now I just need to go back to my books and determine the proper length for where I want the increase.
