HELP GS1100ED FERODO PLATINUM High Performance Pads

OK I called Michael "Mercury" Morse at Vintagebrake and he was a nice guy but GS1100's was not exactly his specialty but he does race Yammie 750.

His listing showed FDB218 even though his site shows the following. Apparently the one is for the Katana and the other the GS1100 and he doesn't know the diff and without a picture or part number neither do I.

BOTTOM LINE WHAT IS THE RIGHT PART NUMBER for the Non sintered pads for GS1100ED if someone has done this and still has teh box or invoice handy.

Thanks for that reference. It seems pretty clear from not only page 183, but also page 83 that the FDB217 is the correct front pad for the GS1100ED. I'll pull one of the bike to make sure (by shape) and order them tommorow. At work at the moment.

The front is FDB217 (crossed to FA65) and
the rear is FDB151R (crossed to FA36).

They miced out as well.

Now where can I get these cheap?

I'm confused. You called and talked to Michael and didn't order them from him on the phone? He's gotten me the correct pads for both of my bikes, I've never had to look up a part number...

BTW, good choice on the Ferodo...you'll like them.

I think he must be pretty busy with Yammi's. I agree he is very knowledgeable and in fact told me of some little known trick for fixing the anti-dive systems for the GS. However, he did not know which part of the two part numbers was correct. Therefore the my question. It sounded like some numbers had been discontinued, I dont know what his reference was. It was different than his website which appears to be correct (the website).

He did not recommend even changing out the master and said it was largely personal taste and that varied widely. Part of the situation is that anybody in his position is attempting (based on a 2 minute phone call) to try and judge your ridding style.

By the way I do have 5/8" MC on both the GS1100ED and GS750EX. Both have the same size rotors but the FRNT calipers are somewhat different with different pads.

I'm starting to think sintered for the GS1100ED as more appropriate for open highway and potential high speed braking, while lowspeeed stop and go in town the Organic for the GS750EX.

Still split on the MC, might grab that one as it would go on either bike but provide the improved "feel" as you describe.

Ordered Pads from Vintage Brakes

Apparently the Ferodo's are relatively more easy on the disks so I went with Sintered up front and Platinum (organic) in the back. Still debating the 14 mm MC. I' m away off from getting this all together so maybe someone else will try it.

I still have to send by disks of for surface grinding .

Can you have Michael pull my invoice from my order a year or two ago? I think he uses an electronic system. My ship to zip code was 28704 - last name Reinke. He should be able to find that and then the 1100E part number.

Just don't confuse it with my 2007 order for the Honda CB brake pads.

Ha! I'm glad I found this thread via the search feature. So I'll bump it. I got sent 218s! (which don't fit) Can anyone confirm whether the 1980 brake pads are the same size as those you guys use? I'm thinking 217 is right but Mr Morse wants me to pull measurements etc etc.
