    Bored.

    Got bored while waiting for my swingarm to be repowered coated so i made this fuel line/filter. Runs around the top of frame where the air filter box used to be. More pic when its installed.Tube goes all the wat to the filter, bugger of a job getting the hose over it that fair. It just zip-ties to the frame where the rubber hoses are. All secure and vibration proof. (i hope)

      It sorta looks like an automotive-type filter that might require a bit of pressure behind it to get the fuel to flow properly.
      Another problem is the massive horizontal run. Too many chances for air bubbles to get trapped in the fuel filter, which only aggravates the problem.

          Ran a simular system before (plastic/paper filter)and the air bubbles wont be a problem as a good wheelie fixes that. LOL See what happens.

            I put the same filter on my gs750 and it was restricting fuel flow to my carbs. At wot the bike would start to bog and sputter. Once I took it out, ran perfect. I dont run a inline filter anymore.

              You have to either run a lawn tractor filter or one of the inline filters like Z1 sells (look like a brass stone inside). They are made for gravity fed, no fuel pump systems. I have one of the ones from z1 and no problems.

                gday mate, ran a similar filter for quite some time, it is a car filter, but thats why it can flow more fuel than most bikes, need, the only prob i had, was originally when i routed it, i sat it up inside the tank area, towards the spine of the frame, and found that, when you had low fuel in the tank, because fuel is drawn into a carb, at constant throttle once your tank level, reached the level in the high point of the fuel line, it would seem like it was running out of fuel, the remedy was to increase the length of the line from the tank, so that the filter sat, lower than the lowest part of the fuel level in the tank, regards.

                    gday mate, because when you run pump fuel, you tend to pick up crap in your fuel system, from the bowsers, or just getting into your tank, have you ever taken the carbs off, and looked in the float bowls, after a few thousand kays, notice the sludge deposit at the lowest point, where the drain screw is, regards.

                      That filter looks like it has a screen inside so it should be fine as far as resistance is consern. My caution is with the long run you have in the line, and all the joints. Fuel pressure is low in a gravity feed system when the gas tank is low on fuel. Having that long run is not going to help any - and if it goes up hill at any point... You might want to test it to make sure you get enough flow when you have less than a gallon in the tank.

                        Not sure either but it looks trick and i was bored. My carbs are 29 smoothbores so they have the 17mm cap on the bottom so dirty fuel dont sit there too long.
