BUT "leegs55e" (he was referring to) is selling a VX rim, not NTV

Oh great, now we're all cornfuzed.

If I had an NTV wheel, I think I'd leave it attached to the bike. The VX I have is more project than its worth.

Sorry to hijack your thread to sell my s__t. If you want it, you know how to find me.

You can now return to posting about your bike.

how much power can a shaft drive handle

i've been talking to a mate of mine (who knows a thing or two about cars and bikes)
                        he's building a turbo-injected ('79) Z1300
he's looking at getting 200hp at the engine

the point being - that bike has a shaft drive
he reckons he shouldnt have problems the shaft (incl the sesondary gears and the final drive gears) taking that kind of hp

i thought it might be interested to throw that info here as some folks have expressed concerns on how much power the gs shaft drive can handle

Z1300 is also a 6cyl if im not mistaken. Meaning, he wont be turning the same revs at the same speeds. Now, the torque level will likely be a bit higher right off the rip (for instance, a GL1500 redlines at 5.5k i think) But even still, I simply DONT think the drive system can put up with that kind of load. Look at all they have done to the Connie 1400. It doesnt put out 200hp, and they still had to do quite a bit to the rear drive and swingarm to deal with the stresses and shaft jacking that IT puts out.
