jet kit install question
Well i got the stage 3 jet kit in the mail for my gs650 and there isn't any installation instructions. Can anyone chime in for what drill bit goes where and where the Main Air Cor.'s go? The kit came with a screw, i think that i am to take the factory main air cor. out and put in the ones in the kit. I had the carbs apart and i didnt see anything.Tags: None

Little tough because the instructions are different for different applications. The screw is used to pull out the caps on the pilot screws after drilling them with what is probably the larger of the two drill bits. If it's a dynojet kit I'd bet they have instructions on their website.

checked their site, nothing. so i called the toll free number and the guy really wasnt much help. All i got from it was that i may not need the smaller drill bit. So i am still lost.

I just finished installing this kit on my bike (GS650GL) without many problems. Everything is running fine, so I'm sure I got it right. To answer your questions:
1. Big drill bit is for the air port in the slide (offset hole next to the centered hole that the jet needle goes through).
2. Small drill bit is to drill out the factory plug for the mixture screw on top of the carb. If you can see the mixture screw already, you don't need it.
3. The screw in the kit is to help remove the mixture screw plug from #2 above.
4. The main air correctors (little cylinder thingys with the tapered hole) are supposed to be pressed into the main air ports on top of the original main air jet. The main air jet is one of the two holes on the airbox side inlet to the carb. It is the hole without the threaded jet in it (that's the pilot air jet/circuit). I think the main air jet is the one on the right side when looking into the carb throat from the airbox side. Once you tap the main air correctors into the main air jet hole (tapered side facing out), use a small dot of the glue to keep them in. Be careful not to get the glue into the jet itself. They should tap down flush with the hole.
Finally, you can use the instructions for the GS750 stage #3 DJ jet kit, except for teh initial settings (use the instructions that came with your kit). The part number is #3315. PM or email me if you still have some problems. I just installed the kit on Saturday, so my memory is still fresh.
Hope this helps!

Just got the Stage III kit myself
Just got a DJ Stage 3 kit for my GS650 (birthday gift )
Plan on following buddha's post since there aren't any instructions for my 3310 kit. I'm going to start with the e clip to the 3rd groove on the needle instead of the 4th.
I'll post back with results when she's all done.

Ah you sure... usually it is the smaller of the two drill bits for the slide hole & the bigger one for the plug that covers the screw (pilot corrector).
In most cases you drill them out from just over 2mm to about 3mm (1/8") from memory. The other drill is about 5mm from memory. (At least in the kits I've had).

mr. salty is 100% correct in what he just said about the drill bit sizes and there usage...
thats the way 750-850-1000-1100-1150 vaccum carbs are.

all done!!!
I just finished installing the Dynojet 3310 kit for my 650. The instructions for the 750 kit are accurate enough to follow for the 650. I had never jetted a bike before but it was pretty easy to do.
I just took it out for a ride after I put the new pod filters on and OH MY GOD! I didn't think it would make as big a difference as it did, but she is smoother and much more powerful than I imagined. Can't believe I got it dialed on the first go!
This is a MUST for all GS's! Can't wait to ride her all weekend.

@salty_monk:
Good catch! I didn't have to use the bit for the mixture screw covers, so I must have gotten my memory confused. I was spewing my post from memory without double checking my instructions. I promise I'll do better next time. ;-)
