A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Wow, and I thought I would have to get some. Thanks for the tip. I do need to get the gaskets though.

Gaskets are also cheap from Z1, however I didn't price shop either. $2.12 per.

I was wrong before, my chrome pipes did come with header bolts, but they are black oxide finished, not SS.
Why include black bolts with chrome pipes? Who the hell knows.
Sorry for the misinformation.

Oh, and btw, the V&H Headers come with SS hardware (not for the meg mount though, just the header to head bolts)

Weird. I got mine earlier in the year and they didn't come with any mounting hardware at all.

To buy or not to buy.. that is the question..lol The factory pipes only have a little over 8000 miles on them but oh the sweet sound of the 4 x 1 what a delima..

Just checked $289 from bike bandit.. didn't go far enough to check if the code worked.. but there is 15% off right now

Can I just bolt one of these things on to my '80 GS1000G with stock airbox and K&N filter and be good to go or do I need to make airbox and jetting mods? I'm getting tired of listening to the baffles rattling around inside my stock pipes...

Pipe only is minor adjustments, probably up one main jet size and one position on ther needle.

Ok I just had to do it.. ordered mine... $251.39 from bike bandit and the promo code is still working! :D

JUST GOT MINE ON SATURDAY!!! Too bad I still need to get gaskets, jet kit, and pods.

Also, just to clarify, it came with bolts, though it says they are for a certain model only, not mine, as they are too short!?!?!? Anyway, they were black allen heads and would rust up anyway. Gotta get some SS bolts.

Not a big deal but...

Not a big deal but...

I've had mine on for about a month now and I'm noticing pieces of thread (the muffler packing I'm guessing) coming out. Anyone else notice anything like this?

Woo Hoo!!! mine arrived today.. now I gotta get the carbs rejetted :)

that V&H has a straight pipe... mine bends upward after the collecter.... weird.

and its normal to blow a little of the glass out of the pipe in the first few hundred miles...

they bolt directly to the frame...

So, I purchased a GS650GLD back in June. I live in Guatemala, Central America and found this bike for about USD$1000. It runs well, and has no noticeable leaks. One of the previous owners chopped off the OEM mufflers, and I have been following this thread for weeks now. But shipping and exhaust system to this country is EXPENSIVE. Somehow, I manage to track a brand new right side OEM, and just yesterday I found the left side at another place. My question is: Do I go the OEM way or do I find a way to ship a V&H to me. I think I can get the OEM set for about USD$250. What do you all think.

That's because that pipe is the drag pipe, which will have corner clearance issues. See images that I posted earlier in the post.
