I'm still subscribed! Just got the performance head I got from Ed on my 1085 S yesterday Bruce. Ported, megacycle cams, oversized valves, 34mm flats. Making just a tick more power

Joe I'll bring it up next time I'm your way so you can test it out yourself

I was going to ask you about those cams. Any idea on the lift? Are you running shim under buckets? Did you degree them in? If so, at what degrees?

OH, and of course, this thread will still be for "the beast", just with different frame and body work.

.400" lift. Not running shim under bucket and did not degree them in.

I acquired some Andrews S2 cams, 390 lift. So should be perfect for what I want. Waiting on those and a few gaskets, and I should be ready to button up the motor.

You get the matching springs Bruce? My first S had a bunch of broken valve springs along with hipo cams when I got it, and I'm pretty sure the PO installed the cams with stock springs which proceeded to self destruct. Also, Megacycle calls for .006/.008" clearance for their cams, so I suspect other hi-lift GS cams are similar. This is significantly more clearance than stock and something to be aware of. If you already know all this please dismiss.

Although Andrews says that stock springs ore ok, I'll be putting in some fresh aftermarket springs. They are showing a .004-.006 lash.

Here's their spec sheet. I thought it was cool that they show what the stock numbers are...I always wondered....
