New (or used) muffler for my GS1000

I'm looking for something to put on my GS1000 project. Looking for something that has a decent sound. Not too loud, but I wanna hear that 1000 rumble. I have a Kerker 4-1 with a V&H welded to it right now (I didn't weld it, t'was one of the PO's little mods).

Looking for something not too big. Would love to find a Supertrapp, but I haven't found anything that will fit right, or for a decent price that looks good. Not looking to drop $300 on just a muffler here, but still want it to look decent. Current one is too rough looking for my standards, and since I'm totally re-doing the whole bike, why leave a crappy muffler on it?

Any ideas, please let me know. It's gonna be a Wes Cooley replica when it's done.

You can buy a complete new V&H for around $300. Not too many other choices if you want new... Mac still sells them for the 1000, too.

Not really all that interested in a complete system. Nothing against V&H, but I'm just not a huge fan. No real reason, just not. Like the feel of my Kerker. Feels solid and meaty compared to my buddy's new V&H. And I still have access to the oil filter.

Just looking for a slip on muffler.

If you buy a MAC, be prepared for a lot of rust appearing. Not sure if all GS models are the same but on the 650 no jetting changes are required when the stock airbox is left alone.

this may be sacralige, but i've seen people use harley mufflers on just about every type of exhaust out there. the stock ones with baffles sound pretty nice, honestly.

            Harleys have mufflers?

Yeah, it's the first thing the owners toss when they start putting on the bling... So they should be everywhere and cheap.

To tell you the truth I am not even sure what the OEM Harley mufflers look like.

Sitting on there own they are not visually fabulous to my eye but they might be nice when mounted up.
That set looks like they have O2 fittings near the front, Might that be correct?

ya, probably. i haven't seen any on a GS, but i dug up some pics of them on a kawasaki.. they are popular with the KZ cafe crowd.

Nice size, not as large as I expected.

Not really looking for a chromed out HD muffler. I have a 4-1 Kerker header that's painted enamel gloss black. Might get it re-coated with ceramic as the place that does it is on the way to my parent's place, and I know they do a good job. http://www.fireballcoatings.com/

Was kinda looking for something like on this bike:

                          or this one:

Would like to keep with a kind of racey look without going to a huge can that makes the back wheel look weird. And it would be nice if it fit onto my Kerker's 2 1/2" collector. It's gonna be a Wes Cooley replica, so needs to look as fast as it is, not HD slow.
