Would these wheels work, or way too much trouble?

Just saw them locally, and I live on an island so local parts are almost nonexistant, and wondered if they could be made to work on my 1983 gs400e.

I will go head and answer my own question with:

"you have to change out the whole front end"

    thanks!

Just asking in case I am wrong.

Your own answer is correct. The rear probably won't fit in your swingarm. Try looking for some newer GS500 wheels if you want to go wider and more modern looking.

I mostly just need new tires, and figured the newer 17" would offer more choices.

I have an 11 year old Metzler on the back and an 18 year old Chen Sing on the front. Both look ok, just mild cracking on the chen sing, not even cracking really, but way too old for me thanks.

      Any ideas?

I live in a place with horrible selection and prices to match, island life for you!

        GEEZ!

Those tires are older than my children!

The last set I bought for my bike (Harley) were from ebay. I got a set of Avon Venoms for way less than retail and that included shipping. Depending on what you want in a tire, I'd suggest shopping around on-line and ebay.

What brand / size do you want?

Edited to say: That Cheng Shin is older than the Chinese Gymnast whose parents made it! ;-)

Oh I know they are old, also another good reason why I had her drop the bike off here for me from her place (1.5 hour drive at 100km/hr).

The price was adjusted due to it needing a few things

The tires are suprisingly decent for the age, but I still plan to buy new ones

I honestly don't know the size honestly, the bike is at home, I think it is 18" front and back? Haa Ill look when I get home.

I'll second Billy's suggestion...try to find some modern GS500 wheels....

Text messages with my youngest brother Daniel right after he was paralyzed:

Me: Hey Dan-O. Just wanted to say howdy & love ya!

Dan-O: Howdy and Love you too. Doing good, feeling good.

Me: Give 'em hell, Little Bro!

              Dan-O: Roger that! :)
