      This is an ambitious project. Having that big radiator up front looks like it just clears the front finder. Does the large radiator affect the looks? Is that motor oil cooled with an oil cooler as well?

      Maybe you can graft another smaller water cooler from a donor to give the bike a more natural GS look.

        Believe it - it does NOT make contact with the front fender, but is unsightly to my project, IMHO also.


        Yes it is NOT the way I want it yet (rad looks).
        I have one for a Hayabusa which is literally 1/3rd the size.
        Been seriously debating swapping it out before the final end of the project.
        I know with the larger rad it onyl gets a tick over warm so far for the short trips I have been on.
        My experience on my Hayabusa, as with most, will run mid point to warm, hot in traffic for extended periods.

        I just want this bike dependable and low maintenance (ya right).
        Just a daily rider is all I want honestly, without the anemic feeling in traffic.

        I also have been contemplating going the oil cooled route, from one of my other oil cooled 1100 powered bikes.
        But it is so hard for me to part a running bike

        The oil cooler is mounted down low and is not in the way thankfully.

        some progress from last night-

        I am dabbling with the electrolysis method right now.
        I ran it for 4 hrs last night using the battery charger on 6amps.

        I am thinking of getting serious and slapping the AC/DC welder on it like one guy did to get it working faster.
        But faster is not always better of course...

        It is electricity, and for your own safety use your head around it.
        Being a Licensed Electrician doesn't make me any better then anyone else, just teaches how to do a little more then most.
        one thing to note, is that your paint will bubble and peel if it has any rust under it such as nicks scratches etc.

        4 hrs in (11pm cst) I turned off the setup and left the tank soaking due top the amount of steel/rust buildup on the rods (they need to be cleaned every now and then as per the website addresses in it's instructions.

          Nice work! Looks like that GSXR motor has lots of torque with it lofting the front wheel off the throttle.

          Are you planning on upgrading the front end as well to run a radial tire? Mixing bias and radial tires on the same bike can lead to some potentially dangerous handling in the corners, if for no other reason than that rear radial is much much stickier than your front bias tire.

            Yes hoping to swap out the Front end soon have to rebuild the shocks first-
            In t he mean time trying to acquire a 120/80-17 in radial for the coming trip friday.
            My uni filter pods should be here tuesday or so.

            Made some adjustments and repairs and corrections today -

            test ride pics.

              Alrighty then -

              Pulled the GSXR1074 water pumper out this morning, cannot get the inverted front end on with the radiator in the way can I?

              here's what we have now

              1989 GSX1100F donor motor, all 1127cc of beauty.

              I have to fab a tab to pull the oil cooler back some, but she's right on time-
              Also the lower rear motor mounts worked out perfect no spacer on the left needed.
              The front mounts, just needed the hole moved out 1/2", the upper rears will need 2 brackets modified easy thing I can do tomorrow.

              I still need to fabricate an exhaust hanger, glad I did not do it yet, since I swapped out the motor-
              * Notice the difference in length of 1.25" longer...

                You either hav WAY too much time on your hands, are INSANE, or just a GLUTTON for punishment! I'm away from your bike for 4 days & next thing I see is the water cooler gone & replaced with an oil cooler! I really think the oil cooled motor suits that bike better as it was the next generation Suzuki motor anyway. Keep it up man! I should fly you out here & have you get on the stuff I don't have time for! LOL!! Ray.

                  I believe a little bit of everything you mentioned is my problem or drive, however you wanna view it *thumbsup*

                  here's 1 & 1/2 hrs of progress this morning, took me longer to upload this short video





                  -edit- 4:10 pm cst

                  just got back from a 2 hour shake down ride on it-
                  I am utterly thrilled to say the least-
                  Incredible and fun with a flick of the wrist-
                  albeit the gearing is slightly tall, I am happy with the overall project.

                  Now for the final fitting and such-

                    Is anyone else ready to get this one finished?
                    It's been a little over a year now, I have the itch again.
                    Time to finish this project.

                    New replacement tank is on the way thanks to Oldbaldguy
