I've yet to do the conversion on my "T". I have the 630 chain MrBill gave me a couple years ago. It's on my to do list.
I would suggest doing the conversion!

2nd... what happened to the GS case?
3rd... I believe the Katana motor will go into the GS frame with some mild fabrication... and some wiring swapping.

I don't agree on the tensile strength comment on the 530 chain, some of the super bikes now use the 530 or 520 chains and they can be had in different tensile strengths. Metals have changed alot since these bikes were new.sigpicMrBill Been a GSR member on and off since April 2002
1980 GS 750E Bought new in Feb of 1980
2015 CAN AM RTS
Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.
