Holding slotted cam gears in place

I'm considering getting adjustable cam gears (sprockets) and wondering if Loctite on the bolts is good enough to hold them or if locating (or making) bolts with drilled heads and wiring them in place is the way to go.

the bolts will hold them...tighten them well and use a loctite primer and blue loctite. Use a GOOD 10mm wrench that will not round the head on the bolts

I havent done that job yet but i would use a torque wrench in that spot for sure in addition to locktite. I was wondering why blue locktite was recomended instead of red. the cams and the bolts are not aluminum??

No need for red...guess its OK. I never torqued them...tighten the he** out of em....That is a hardened sprocket and bolt so you can really lay it to it.

          Cam Sprockets

I slotted and indexed the cams on my 1978 GS 1000 (well worth the effort). I used Red Locktite, you can use Blue. I actually had the same concerns about the bolts loosening off as you. I was assurred by a Drag Racing specialist this wouldn't happen as long as you used Locktite and the factory torque settings. Hope this helps. Joe
