Aftermarket Cams?
Checking the valves on my recently purchased 1000S and the cams look different from what I'm used to seeing on stock Suzuki's. Cam sprockets are also slotted.
Anyone know what these things are? Total lobe height measures approximately 38.4mm for both intake and exhaust. Stock is 36.4mm for intake and 35.8mm for exhaust.

They are not Andrews Cams since they marked their cams with 1S, 2S, 3S designations. I pulled out the Yoshimura price list but they don't specify the lift for the Stage I to Stage III cams.
Safe to say you have a street cam in your GS1000S because the Andrews S1 lift is .370" Second, you should check the valve timing of the intake cam while you are in there . . . if the sprockets were slotted on both sides it appears yours is against the stop which may indicate questionable cam timing adjustment.
Good luckSteve

web cam stamps the end of there cams with a number. I have a set of webcams, one is a facory weld on cam and the other seems to be an aftermarkey casted cam.

One other question to you hot rod guys: are these cams worth anything? This bike needs a lot of work and money so if I can sell the cams to free up some money that could go toward more important parts I just may do it.Ed

Markings on the cam are shown in the photo: F-375, and on the back of the sprocket tab there is also 8125 stamped in with a very small 30 trailing off. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Maybe .375" lift?
Edit: tried to measure lift but my dial indicator doesn't have enough travel. I'll measure them tomorrow at work.
Was able to measure total lobe height (using calipers) at 1.518" and 1.11" measured perpendicular to that which should be close to the base circle.

More fun...
Aluminum spring retainers for a street bike? 3 of 8 valves have destroyed retainers.
Guess this engine isn't going anywhere for a while.

And even more fun...
Three of the four pistons had missing aluminum pin buttons on one side. Pin walked out so cylinder walls are deeply scored. Pistons measure 73mm. Anyone know what brand? Any suggestions on what I should do to this thing?

Mine are very lumpy. Exhaust .460, Int .520.
Thanks Steve,
Your cams definitely look like they are from the same blank. Not sure if RC had that blank made or if various cam grinders had access to them. This engine has some serious problems so the cams are the least of it's problems.
Need to come up with a cylinder and maybe head/pistons/camshafts. If anyone has some clean stock parts please let me know please.Ed
