What was wrong with the donor bike?
What type of racing do you do? I'm impressed with your building skills. How does that CB750 ride, looks fantastic!
That GSXR Yoshimura pipe won't fit at the GS head as the GS exhaust ports have a wider spacing at the head than on the watercooled GSXR. Been down that road with a GSXR 1000 Ti header myself.
I'm aware of the exhaust port spacing differences between the GS and the GSXR heads and have already rough measured for what needs to be changed to get the RS-3 header tight under the GS. My plan is also to fit a Bassani style end-can to whatever header I mount to look similar to what I did to the Honda. That's still all just early ideas.
Trackday pic is me at the bottom of the "Corkscrew"@Laguna Seca.

Hi NorCal
read & understood the post on the steering stem mate, the point i was making was my personal opinion only your stem is now down to what i consider the minimum thickness over more of its length than stock imo thats fine if you are happy with it but its not something i would do

I love that CBF-SS. My cousin had one when I was a kid and I've always wanted one (Maybe do one in the future). I'm going to pay close attention to how you engineer your linkage mounts. Please show us some pics, if you have any, of any frame bracing you've done.

I've been getting a little bit of the "What's that thing gonna look like when it's done?" thrown at me. So, I gave my son a couple of "build in progress pics" and had him do a quick PhotoShop session of what my twisted vision of the GS is going to look like.
I originally planned to do the blue and white 81' AMA Superbike Cooley/Yosh theme but, after seeing literally dozens of them on the net I decided that I was going to head for something different. (I've noted a few built with the 79' Cooley/Yosh red graphics too.)
I'm going to take some "liberties" with the 80' Cooley/Yosh Vetter graphics designs and do my own spin on them. I'm not really keen on having "race sponsorship" logos on streetbikes but, the Vetter/Yoshimura logos just have to be there to make this thing work.

Very Cool!!
I really like the black out look with the exhaust and the engine. I think the yellow will look really good, I would go with it...Do you have a close up pic of how you mounted the gauges?

The graphics....
...Those are seriously cool. Same kind od idea I have for my '81 750e that's leaning in the corner with new parts slowly being stacked around it.
I've been trying to find pictures of any "factory support" riders from back in the early days of the GS in AMA Superbike but no luck yet (Anyone with pics please post them or send them to me).
NorCal, You're go'na get me in trouble 'cause Household-6 already thinks I'm spending too much time looking for "motorcycle stuff" on ebay and the net.

Yeah Steve, that pipe was Photoshopped straight off of the "F" just to make the GS look complete. (I said in one of my e-mails to you that I was going to frame mount the fairing, changed that idea, I like the overall looks of the bike better with it closer to the forks.)
Again, that pic is a Photoshop, engine paint (and lots of other parts) will be done with a firearms coating made by Brownells, it costs around $40. a quart and is an "air-dry" product.
