    2006 R1 swingar kat project

I am starting with a 1983 750 frame and am moving a little more away from the classic kat look. will be dropping my 1260 engine in.
Moving all the electrics, brake res under the seat like the yosh 1135, hiding the batter and switching to a new smaller one, some simple frame bracing (leaving room for a future turbo).
some of the changes will be rear sets as the peg stays are coming off, removable pass/pegs in case my daughter would like to ride, custom header hanger molded to the busa rearset, R1 swingarm with busa rear wheel and a 200 tire, custom cut down seat and upholstery, keyless RFID tag ignition like the new bmw's, flush mout fuel cap, possible rear view camera since I am tired of trying to see around my elbows and some odds and ends.

The cosmetics will be changing as well in respect to color. Will be going black and blue, a little lighter than when I broke my coller bone when I dumped it 2 yrs ago.

My header is down by the front pegs so the bracket would be about a foot and a half.

I made a bracket on another bike but that requires re-welding the header mount and I can't do that with my chrome V&H. I am looking into getting a stainless mid/tail pipe made to match my Yosh pipe.

No, No, thats not the 240. won't fit. I am thinking of a 240 swinger with jackshaft but they are a couple G's to buy and the 18" 240 rim is another 1,500. Lots of dough for another 40mm of width and worse handling.

But.... the 240 would be a cruzin/straight line machine. I would stretch it about 6" too.

ps, in your sig... you forgot strength. Luke 10:27

i have an 83 V/H 4-1 on my 79 GS1000. the resonator mount was directly below the upper shock mount, so it just worked out.oh, but im not using the V/H resonator, mine is more upswept, so my bracket wasnt quite as long as yours would have to be.

                      R1 swinger

Katman, Do you have the swingarm mounted upside down?Or is the R1 that much different from the R6 swingarm?
                      Doze.

                        Hey Dozer,

the 06 R1 swing came out with an under brace. Don't know why they changed from the prev years but I am glad they did.
There is so much offset on the chain side it is not good upside down.

Yeah, I understand about the offset. I noticed that the R6 swinger that I am using on my 1150 ES has quite a bit on the left side.

Is the R6 arm an inch wider at the pivot as well?

Pretty close to that, but in checking the pivot points on the frame there appears to be plenty of material to remove at that point, so I don't think that I will have to do any mods to the swinger. I think that I can get away with shaving down the pivot points on the frame an equal amount on each side, and end up with exactly what I want. So the rear suspension will be totally R6, and on the front I'm using the R6 front wheel with a 95 GSXR USD fork setup and 93 GSXR calipers which only need a 1/8" spacer behind each caliper to center the calipers on the rotors. I'm also machining a 1 1/2" dropped upper triple clamp so I don't lose very much clearance up front, if any.
                              Doze.
