    How about these shocks?

    Found these. Curious what the opinion of the membership is....

    I've found it difficult replacing the rear shocks for my "L" without invading Ft Knox. These "look" okay, but , wondering what everyone thinks of them.

    For what it's worth...

    I ran a set of similar shocks for around 1000 miles on an off-topic bike;



    I have to admit that for a budget shock, they actually perform pretty well. You'll notice in the picture that I have the preload adjusted about as far as it would go as they were way too soft on the initial settings. They were also a little short for my application (notice the extenders on the lower mount).

    The downside...

    I could never get it out of my head that my life was hanging on a pair of cheap chinawanese shocks. My mind would often wander to thinking about them whenever the pace picked up on a ride. I eventually took them off and replaced them with a set of ZRX KYB's.

      They look better than the Emigo crap that is out their on Ebay and many other stores for under $90. My only problem is that last time (5Yrs) I bought something on Ebay from China I never got my item.

        Thanks. I'm going to be installing new progressive fork springs and a steering stem bearing this weekend. Right now every little bump feels like I'm hitting the Grand Canyon. Just looking for a less expensive alternative to replace the 28 yr old rear shocks. Sadly I don't have access to Ft Knox........

          Interesting....I too am lookin' for rear shocks and don't have a lot of cash on hand..

          If ya get 'em....let us know how they work....

                Yes. Thanks. Crap !! I'm getting really frustrated with trying to find a decent pair of shocks for my bike without having to go take out a loan !!! With them being eye to clevis and only 310mm in length, really knocks my options down.

                I guess I'll start saving my pennies for a bijillion dollar set.

                  Progressive Suspension doesn't have anything for you? What about the Midi shocks, available from a number of suppliers?

                    I picked up a set of Bitubo's for my 750E a few years ago. I've been pleases with them, they may be another option. I beleive there are several build options at different price points... non-adjustable, adjustable, with or without external reservoir. and a wide range of spring rates. the ones I have are adjustable without reservoir, but I don't remember spring rates anymore.

                        the shock in the link in the first post as I mentioned before here that the manunfacture make these shock is for scooter at first.
                        They have no oil inside for damping, only gas inside.
                        I can get a pair of them NOT MORE than US$30 from China market.

                        The only thing I could say they are good in out look and CNC machine work.

                        May be someday later they can make really good shock for our big bike!

                          For what its worth I just bought these shocks



                          They were a direct bolt on no mods. They are stiffer but I weigh about 290ish so that was okay with me and they are about 1" longer. So far I have just taken them on a short trip down the road but for the money I am just tickled pink. IMO they are miles ahead of the 28 year old stock ones I had on there.

                            And now, a few words about fork springs and rear shocks, from Mr. Griffin. (Comments in parentheses are mine.)

General consensus of users seems to be that they are ok quality, but very stiffly sprung. Essentially the bare minimum option from stock.                             2. $120 Redwing: Evidently no longer made, they are still available at www.loudfastugly.com (and omarsdtr.com). I've not been able to find anyone who's actually used them, but they appear to be of halfway decent quality.

                            3. $210-$230 Progressive 12 Series: Lots of information here and all over the web about them. Most people seem happy with them, several different spring weights available. Available at most online retailers. www.denniskirk.com is a vendor I have had great luck with over the years.

                            4. $218-$270 Hagon Type A: Seem very similar to Progressive 12 series as far as owner satisfaction, quality of construction, and price. Available in the USA at www.davequinnmotorcycles.com

                            5. $320-$400+ Ikon 76 Series: Generally pretty highly regarded, lots of options available. From what I've read on the internet, they do seem to be more highly regarded than Progressive. Can be found at http://www.ikonsuspensionusa.com/servlet/StoreFront

                            6. $419-$589 Works Performance Steel Tracker: Very highly regarded, lots of positive reviews around the internet of Works Performance in general. Customer service (including rebuilding any brand of shock) is very highly rated. More info at http://www.worksperformance.com/html/home.html

                            There are other options available that can be more expensive, including offerings from Works, Ikon, Ohlins. White Brothers, once a powerhouse in the motorcycle industry, has ceased operations.
