    GS750ES Mono shocl suspension upgrades

What shock upgrades are avalilable for these models?

Best I understand it the 700 - 750 & 1150 all use exactly the same shock unit?

Just picked up a 750ES, 2 owners from new, 30k. The owner I saw who's had it since 86 (it's an 83) is quite a big guy & suspension both ends is pretty soft.

Is there a mono from a newer bike that can be used?

I'm running a Works Performance Durasport with a remote reservoir. Couldn't be more pleased with it.

They are tough to find for these bikes. Fox might still be able to supply them but still big money. YSS has some nice stuff for a little less money. Check out the Z and X series shocks. http://www.yssusa.com/series-z.html Some people have used GSXR shocks from about '97-??? They flip them over and run them upside down. I just got lucky and caught a guy unloading the Works here in the classified section for $150 and it was practically new. I think it was around Christmas a couple of years ago and I was the first to pull the trigger with a Paypal payment.

Talk about a score; You can build a bike around that shock

The Z is a little better at $279 if one of those lengths will fit... Did you go for the same length as stock?

I'll have to look on OSS, I bet someone on there prob has a lot of info on what is available.

As far as I know it's the stock length. Works has a page on their website that shows what length the shock is. I don't remember of the top of my head.

I've got a Hagon on mine. Was around $460 about two years ago. I'm very happy with it.

13.25 overall length with an SRS spring

Looks like 336mm Guess the 330 or 340mm YSS might fit... Guess I could take the stocker off & measure too.

Too bad this would not fit; I think the GSXR 750's are only 290mm

13.25 sounds right. I'd probably go for the longer one. YSS is supposed to have some top notch suspension guys working for them.

290mm, that's 1.5" shorter. Seems like too much. Definitely a shame.

                              Chocks

I'm assuming the GS700E/750ES are eye to eye ; right?

Anyway here is a post when I was on a quest for a 1st GEN GSXR 1100 shock which is even more rare than that GSXR 750 Ohlin. I even hand one but swapped it for a Fox double clicker. There is some infor here on shock options but most are no longer than 305mm.

I have a spare stock GSXR1100 and an R1 as well (two shocks on the left hand side)

OK after a mad scramble to get some rear shocks for my 86 GSXR 1100 with 91 USD and wheels, here is what I have: a.) what looks like the original GSXR 1100 Gen 1 shock (12 1/2" long) b.) 2005 YAMAHA YZFR1 shock nearly new (11 7/8" long) c.) a SU5270 (V-721) Ohlins off of a 1st gen GSXR 750 (11...

There is a tables somewhere also that lists all the lengths and springs rates. Depending upon the dog bone there can be big differences in required spring rate.

The stock GSXR can be rebuilt for about $250 and a later gen reservoir with compression and rebound adjustment can also be fitted.
