New pipe for my GS1100GL

Hi,

I got my first bike (see link and photos below) about six weeks ago and loved how the 4-1 pipe screams. I've never liked loud bikes but this one I liked. People react to it for sure, and most know you are coming. She's not too loud below 3500 so I don't annoy the neighbors or anything (so I like to think).

Well, after hearing my friend ridemy bike I have a differnet opinion. It sounds a lot better when riding with my helmet on than it does standing by listening to accelerate away andgo down the rode.

So I guess I should quiet it down if it's not going to even sound good. My head does ring after 30 minutes at sustained 5000-6000 RPM so I thought IO'd look into getting a new pipe to attach to my headers.

I've never bought a pipe so I have a lot to learn. I suppose as long as the bolt holes lineup it's all good. Is there a FAQ or primer I could read?

Besides nice tone and hgh performance, it it could curl up a bit more to give me an extra confidence to lean over that would be nice. :-)

If you are happy with the pipes, just not the noise, you could repack the can. Lots of people here have used stainless-steel wool, which lasts a lot better than fiberglass.

I'll look around for more info on repacking.

I suppose I should pull it apart and see what is inside, huh?

In my opinion, your bike doesn't sound too loud. Of course, that was only in your driveway. I'll give you more accurate feedback when we spend some time on the road together!.

I thought about this once or twice - it' more like a sonic vibration so I wondered if they helped. I've got lots of them around so I should try them
