    52 or 53mm velocity stacks

Frustrating story my pod filters started on fire while riding, burnt some wiring and left goey
foam all over engine. i think the cause was a back fire throught the carbs; because i had a plug wire switched? anyway i looked on sudco but they all list the famous rs flatside 55mm iner diameter stacks. but on my 83 gs750e i have the BS mikunis so were do i find the stacks to fit these carbs.

Im trying to figure the samething out! I had the old stocker air intake on my gs550 and one day it just fell apart and the carbs sucked it up and i had to clean out the carbs! So im trying to switch to the little cone pod filter types but every dimesion i had recieved for them shows that they would hit the frame on the outside carbs! Any ideas? U can find those things on ebay they fairly cheap! Shown with dimensions and all!

Really, 52mm or 53mm are the smae thing. The conversion makes the 52mm 2.05" and 53mm 2.09". That difference can be made up within the rubber boot. It will stretch or compress enough to make up that small difference. I got a set of K&N pods for my bike to replace the one I lost on the road off ebay for about $50 or so. I did buy the kit for a twin because I really only needed 1 so it was cheaper than buying the whole kit.
